heated seats burned a hole in my sweater
Has anyone had any issues with the heated seats in these cars? During this recent cold snap, I turned on my heated seats and it got really hot on my skin, to the point if burning my back. I turned off the seat and checked when I got to work and there is a nickel size burn hole on my seat! My sweater had singe marks where it had also gotten hot , almost to the point of combustion. This is a serious safety issue in my book!

wow that is the first I ever heard that on a mustang . Time for a dealership visit. Is your car still under warranty?

Well, get you some cotton and stop wearing nylon/polyester and you won't have that problem...

Lol, I'm kidding, but that is crazy. I have never heard of heated seats getting *that* hot!

Living in alabama, I don't use them a lot. They are nice when it is cold though. I wonder if the normal wear/compression impacted things? Either way, when the smoke started coming and it started to burn my back through a sweater, I turned it off immediately.

I can't imagine that was a comfortable feeling. I'm in CA and have the Recaros, but that sounds like it would be about "just right" for my ice cold fiancée

Wow. That's crazy! Definitely not normal... I have the heated seats in the Mustang and our Mini and my Mustang seats don't get hot, more like warm (comfortable), but compared to the Minis seats (they have 3 settings compared to the Mustang's 1), I actually have to turn them down cause they get so hot! And even in that, I have never had anything burn!

The driver seat in my Explorer did the same thing a while back. It would get so damned hot it was burning your legs and ****, then it quit working.

My wife is extreemly cold natured. She would prob love a seat getting that hot LOL. Our flex has heated seats and I never use them... but she has them on all the time.
Sorry about your problem. That definetly isnt safe.

This is the pic of said fire hazard.

Mine get hot and then start cooling off, eventually they will automatically turn off like the rear defroster does. So they go through an initial heat-up sequence, then slowly cool down until they shut off. Feels good on my poor broken steel infused back when it is 20 degrees outside. lol.

Wow that is crazy! Mine aren't consistent. Like other people have posted, it gets warm then cools off... but out of nowhere it gets hot again...just not THAT hot. Sometimes I can't even tell that they are on... I thought something was wrong but every time I go to the dealer with an issue they tell me that it is normal....

I have not had that issue with mine. I usually turn them off once I feel the heat. That looks like a potential fire hazard.
