0-60 in just 4.8 sec and 1/4 in just 13.5

I know it's not a car to steal Mustang sales but still impressive.

I do agree that dollar for dollar, you'll be hard pressed to find much of anything that could keep up with the current GT, the 2011 will be even harder to beat. Just like dollar for dollar, I believe the mustang could out run the new competition from GM and Chrysler.

How is Ford's turbo 4 better? Do they even offer one yet? Not only has Subaru been dealing with turbo 4s for years now keep in mind that the range topping STI is putting out over 300hp!

MBK, Thanks man. Since that pic though I sold the White 2000. Only have the 07 GT these days. Saving for a '11 GT though .

Wow impressive stuff, I never knew that it had so much torque. I wonder why Ford hasn't already started mass producing this motor for all it's brands including Lincoln, Mercury and even Volvo!

The final EcoBoost product is supposed to be a fair bit more efficient and more powerful than the DISI. Think of the Mazda as a prototype.

Wouldn't it be cool to have that mill in an AWD (Euro) Focus coupe?

Exactly. Seems Ford wanted to utilize the GTDi Mazda engine as a basis for the Ecoboost engines but the Mazda unit fell well short of expectations. Ford is starting with the same basic engine block, but the heads and induction/turbo setup are completely different.

Maybe it's just me but besides the Mustang, doesn't Mazda seem to have a funner lineup than Ford? Cars like the Miata, RX-8, Mazdaspeed 3 and Mazda 6 all seem way funner and sportier than anything Ford has.

Sorry, I don't get it? What Ford is supposed to be more conservative, while Mazda is geared toward the youth? I can somewhat understand that, but Ford should have a fun American brand. Make Mercury what Mazda is right now.

I'm not sure if it is still in the works but the latest rumors I have heard is that Ford is exporting many of it's European models to the US exclusively for the Mercury lineup.

That would NOT be a bad idea! Considering Ford's overseas vehicles kick major a-- and the Mercury lineup could use some serious crutch therapy.

I agree, plus it would seriously make it a unique brand compared to Ford. I'm glad GM started sending some of there global cars to the states (Saturn Astra, Sky. Pontiac GTO, Pontiac G8, Solstice....) Its about time we get some premium vehicles here. Its too bad that these cars arn't selling because they are all bad-***!

I hope that Mercury's next full size sedan is based off of the current RWD Falcon. Ford has pretty much confirmed cars like the Fiesta and Euro Focus coming to the states I just hope they hurry up and do it before they run out of resources. Maybe even use the RWD falcon as a possible future T-Bird? Or just bring the Falcon state-side and keep it's name.....

Oh did I mention that Ford should bring us the Aussie Falcon! I'd love to own one of these. It is the kind of car the 02-05 T-Bird should have been! Think about it, a full size sedan that will kick the tar out of your 05-09 GT!

its hard to take some of these people seriously. they just spout off ignorant statements and aren't interested in rational debate because it makes it more difficult to chant anti ford cliches. the older guys are alright, but the younger guys coming from imports and who are straight regurgitating what they read or watch somewhere else are beyond debating

You forgot the mazda 5 van...based on the mazda 3, it can really carve a corner...for a van In some ways, it's more fun than my mustang day to day because you don't have to be going crazy speeds to slide it around. Plus it's alot more fun to hang with someone who thinks they're gonna leave you behind when you're driving a little old van. People expect the mustang to be able to keep up. They don't expect it from a 4 cylinder mazda van. Plus I don't have to worry about the girls cleaning off their soccer cleats before they get it.

The new Camaro looks terrific and I'm sure it will perform well...maybe even better than the mustang, but so what. So do Corvettes, and Nissan GT-R, etc. I don't like Camaros, so I won't buy one. Plus, we've sung this song before...just second verse...same as the first. This '05 I have is my 8th Mustang, so I'm part of the faithful, but I also recognize the compromises Ford strikes with the car and for my money (which is what ultimately counts), the Mustang does the pony car best.

I'm not sure if this is directed toward me but comparing Ford and other domestics or imports isn't ignorant it is reality. I have own my fair share of both imports and domestics of all the major brands. My statement about Ford not making fun vehicles is an opinion many share. Do yourself a favor and drive some of the competition.

I'm not poking fun at Ford perhaps there market strategy is shifting more to the Toyota mold of making efficient, reliable cars with little to no thrills just point A to B transportation. Ford used to have fun to drive cars besides the Mustang, I'd include the first gen focus, probe, escort etc... Today the Cobalt and Civic are way more fun than the Focus. The Fusion is an improvement, but Ford's own cousin Mazda makes funner 4 door sedans. How can I be anti-Ford if I own a couple? It's too bad for those of you who have blind loyalty to one particular car brand, you guys miss out on a lot of cool cars versus settling for something else.
