Healthy debate with Camaro guys
There were no qualifiers in my statement. $27,000 has nothing to do with it. I simply asked if he could think of any V6 cars that are faster than a new Mustang GT. Money is not a determining factor.
If nobody can think of any, I'll post a few later on...

If price is no object then yes, I'm sure there are. I'm not sure what the point is though because if price is no object than you can always find something that is faster than the last bar.

Lotus Evora. I believe it puts out around 400hp from a mid mounted v6, 0-60 in under 5 seconds. I'd say that beats a Mustang...
EDIT: Sorry. That's a prototype car. The current puts out 280.

Lotus Evora
figure a base price of greater than $60,000 but considerably less than $100,000.
Engine TypeMid-mounted, transverse,
DOHC VVTiDisplacement 3456 cc
Horsepower 276 hp @ 6400 rpm
Torque 252 lb-ft. @ 4700 rpm
ECULotus T6e engine control unit
Nice little vehicle but it just might be a little bit out of my budget.

Porsche 911 Carrera. 345hp. Higher than the current Mustang, maybe even quick enough to give the 2011 a run for her money. But, the 911 Tubro, 480hp. More than enough to even keep up with the GT500, if not beat it.
MSRP of the Carrera starts at $75,600, with the Turbo starting at $128,000.
Does this v6 work for you?

First of all the 2010 is getting power upgrades. Second of all, the 2010 V6 Camaro is still 9.5 car lengths BEHIND the current GT in the quarter. For the mustang to destroy the camaro like you want it to, it'd have to be a ferrari or something. Your expectations are unrealistic.
Hey how about this to put fuel in the fire. These cars cost about the same and though it is a different kind of car offers the same if not better performance than a Mustang GT.
2009 Subaru WRX $26,660 2.5L turbo producing 265 hp 244 ft-lbs
0-60 in just 4.8 sec and 1/4 in just 13.5
lets not forget the handling benefits of AWD
I know it's not a car to steal Mustang sales but still impressive.
