Have This SYNC Quirk?

So here is a repeatable quirk I've found with my SYNC. If I tell it to play a particular artist and then shut off the car while it is in that mode, when the car is restarted in will repeat the last song it was playing over and over again. Skip forward, same song. Skip backward, same song. Happens every time. To fix it, I can just hit SYNC and tell it to play the artist again, and it will return to playing all songs by the artist, instead of just the one.

I'm curious if this is a typical quirk or a quirk just of my car. Does it do this to any of you?

Maybe your car is just like any of us that just can't seem to get that one song out of our head, just plays over and over again...

They're all that way.

Edit: and I'm just as annoyed...

Mine doesn't do that. What source input are you using? I use a USB flash drive. The only issue I have is that occasionally when i restart the car, it will default to radio (rather than USB)

I use USB with a 120GB hard drive and cant say I have had that happen. I also use a few different 2GB thumb drives and havent had that happen with those either.

With the 120GB, I have found that upon every few starts of my car, it will start indexing again even though nothing has changed.

I have the same problem, and it's driving me nuts, trying to figure out why it's doing it.

I think it has something to do with the flash (thumb) drive. I need to swap it out and see if it happens with another one. Something to do with the length of time to deliver power and turn it "on".

So people are experiencing it with USB drive and IPODs? I only used my IPOD once and didnt experience anything like that with turning the car off / on.

The USB drives I have been using since I first got the Mustang in March. What size drive? I am wondering if the bigger drives (over 4GB) gets confused. My two thumb drives 2GBs, work flawlessly, but the 120GB seems to be re-indexing upon starting up the vehicle every few starts, even though I am not unplugging it or anything.

My flash drive is 8 GB, and sometimes it's fine, but sometimes when I start the car it defaults back to the radio.

I don't have that happen, but I can't get it to play album by album just the way it's set up on the 16 gig thumb drive. I've tried everything, I'm not sure if it's me or sync isn't working right?

I currently have it in shuffle mode and that at least works......

Mine did this but in my case it was because I only had one song by the artist. Later I chose an artist that I had multiple songs from and then it went through those songs. I know (now) that this is normal. When I first noticed it with the first artist I thought it was a mistake. I had figured that after playing the requested artist it would resume playing other songs.

I found that if you play the artist, dont select all, then select the album individually, it will play in album order. If you just select play all, it does it by alphabetical order.

I asked Sync, and said it would just play in alphabetical order only when playing all.

Thanks, that's a good tip. I'll try that!

Hm. Yeah, maybe it has something to do with the USB device being used. Mine is an iPod Nano, 16 GB. And it also defaults to radio from time to time when starting up.

Despite the quirks, I still love the system.

I use a zunehd and have never had that happen in my mustang or focus. Funny thing is that Sync likes to always start the same song when playing all. Its not alphabetical becasue he Mustang starts on a diffrent song then the focus. Also if you dont want it to play alphabetical tell it "shuffle on" then its random.

Happens to me. Nano 4th gen.

How about this: sometimes, when switching between Sirius stations (like going thru my 10 presets), I'll get a very brief burst of static noise. It's intermittent and rarely loud, but a couple of times it's been quite a burst. Weird.
