Harsh metal on metal sound...
Just curious if any of you guys experience this in your cars as well. When driving I hear a metal on metal sound from the rear of the car. Windows up and no radio on and it's easily heard. It is speed orientated and disappears/quiets around 5mph. Is this just the brake system being heard thru the body of the car? Or do my brakes need to be adjusted? I also get a chirping only when slightly depressing the brake from the driver side. (this seems to happen with my RTR wheels only and not my factory wheels )
I'm scheduling an appt for service in the next few days and Deysha is helping me out.

It's hard to tell without hearing the sound myself, but my guess is you're just hearing the noise from the rear axle coming through to the cabin. If this is the case it's most definitely normal. The diff housing and axle tubes kind of amplify the sound from the diff/gears/axles and some of it gets translated to the body via the control arms and panhard bar.

There may not be enough clearance between the RTR wheels and the brake calipers. Pull the suspect wheel to check for contact points as some aftermarket wheels dont account for caliper movenent as brake pads wear.

My dealings with aftermarket rims...
Make sure you are using a reputable rim designed for the car. We had one car come into the dealer several times with warped rear rotors and a squeel sound.
Turns out they were using an aftermarket universal rim that was pulling the lug studs in too hard without the proper support around them. Causing the rotors to pull in and warp.

It's hard to tell if you're experiencing the exact issue I have been dealing with, but I sure hope not.

If you check my 2nd post I have listed what was done - so far - to my Mustang. The issue is still present.

I had a metal on metal sound from my car after I got my new tires on and the cause ended up being the wheel weights they put on the inside of the wheel rubbing on the calipers. Definitely pull the wheel and look for contact as others have suggested.

Mine honestly sounds just like the rear brakes. The rotors do make noise when just spinning without the brakes applied correct? Like when you spin the wheels when jacked up. I think and hope that's all I'm hearing thru the body of the car.
