It would be equivalent to watching a person you know who is clearly drunk by stumbling and falling and then wait for them to get into a vehicle and drive so you can arrest them for DWI. A police officer has a responsibility to protect the public against harm and must stop the individual from driving the car. If those police officers are conducting themselves in this manner by leading one to break the law they should be punished for deception to the public. Our job is to protect people not to cause them to break the law and possible kill another because of enticing another to drag race. As a LEO we are not above the law, must abide them just as anyone else on and off duty.
This is true, at my local Mustang Club we`re thinking about putting Go Pro`s on a few of our cars because our local PD is doing just this. They have a couple of Camaro SS`s they`ll bring out from time to time to egg people on to get them to speed up in areas where the trap is already set. Suprisingly, the Cops can only catch *YOUR* car, and the camaro simply "got away". We`ve had one member get hauled off to jail and his Shelby impounded. I`m not trying to justify his actions, just this kind of a setup is not legal. Thankfully, he was in a financial position that he could get his car back and fight the charges off.

Another trick this dept used to do was set up "fake road work areas" and the guys pretending to do survey work were actually using a radar gun mounted on a surveyor`s tripod and they would radio to the units waiting at the end of the road with what cars were "speeding" in a construction zone.

And they wonder why we dont trust them?

As a LEO this action is a stupid. Not only did the police make a fake construction zone leading people to believe police actions are unethical, but it is a trust matter. I can tell you from experience there are plenty of people driving more than 20mph over and if a cop wants to he /she can stop those individuals all day long. No need for extra measures to increase fines and raised insurance rates. LEO has discretion with traffic stops and no supervisor or commander are allowed to tell you to write X number of tickets a month. I have been on the Job for over 21 years and in the next 3.5 years I am done. Policing is not a job people want now especially after the Baltimore Riots...etc. I live in the vicinity of Baltimore and it came real close to which some of us from our Department were going to be called to help Baltimore. So in a nut shell an officer who has the mentality that writing tickets all day long or by trickery should really take a deep breath. LEO should consider writing the violators who are reckless tickets and just warn others. A warning goes a long way with respect, compliance, and trust.

On a lighter note today I had FlowMaster 10 series replace my axle back...awesome deep tone...Now it sounds like a Stang!

The ****er did back away once he saw that i was packing... but still WTF? Idiots!

To the OP you did the right thing girl!

Next time please if you get your self in that drive to a public place and just call the cops cause what he was doing was straight up bs and illegal - Instigating a road rage/fight on the Freeway.

As far as being intimidated, i think we should let our cars do the talk. Obviously they are jealous and got something to prove.

so you brought a gun to church... lol
