With STAR testing in effect if you got a SMOG renewal notice that says you need to go to a STAR approved shop then chances are as soon as they plug in the OBDII and it reads any codes you fail. If it has a tune on the car you had better be only a FRPP Procal (only CA approved tune that i know of for sure) tune as most other tunes will be red flagged. If it is an older vehicle you might get by a time or two but CA wants those cars off the road and make you red tag it when it fails and then the countdown begins to the crusher. Cats need to be in stock location and config. No LT or unapproved shorties. It is a real turd going through all of this but those are the regs. Certain counties do it a bit differently but most are strict.
I wasn't planning on doing long tubes but I was going to go off-road H and a new catback. I can't keep the the stock midpipe because the PO did this to the car:
There's no flanges on it, so it's one complete piece from the midpipe to the tips lol
That's why I wanted a catted h but I think I might find a stocker from the junkyard with my new exhaust to swap out anyways

yeah it's the biggest PITA I've ever dealt with lol. Why couldn't I have had this car when I lived in New Mexico? Lol. Silver. The charcoal was played out so long ago I feel like. Plus I love the silver ones. Captain distractions car with the euroteks always looked so good.
