GT500 Break-in

As a few of you know, I just scored a 2014 GT500. I'm picking her up tomorrow with 811 miles on her.

What do I need to know about break ins? Change oil at 3000 miles? How long does it take? What does it involve?

Drive it like you stole it. Do a lot of engine breaking to seat the rings. Change oil after 3 months. Done. Enjoy it. Congrats josh! I'm uber jelly.

I drive fairly aggressively, but it took my first track weekend to "seat the rings". I had 4k miles on the car at my first track outing. Ate 1qt of oil in the first 3 sessions, and not a drop the other 5 sessions that weekend. Hasn't used a drop of oil since, and it has over 10k with another few days of road racing.

Congrats on owning a legend. I'm jelly too.

So I should be checking the oil constantly until it's broken in? I don't wanna run her with low oil!

With 811 miles I would say it's already broke in and yes to checking the oil often.

The break in is in the manual

Think it's just varied speeds for first 1000 miles if memory serves

Wow awsome car man! The last Shelby GT500 that Shelby biult will be worth some serious coin some day! Ive been driving my 14' GT like i stole it since day one with 7 miles on her lol. Ive herd that for a fast car break it in fast and for a fuel efficient car break it in slow. Lol i dont know if its true but it sounds cool 😜
