GT Fog light delete for more airflow- suggestions
Yes, I have seen the MMD Fog Light Delete plates...they're fine and look similar to the grille in the Boss 302...which is cool.
If I'm going to pop out the good looking fog lights, I would prefer to gain some cooling by leaving them open..but perhaps with some mesh in there so as to catch rocks, etc...and make it look a bit more finished.
Has anyone done this? What mesh/screen did you use? How did you attach it?
Any suggestions are welcome!!

Thanks! I do like the Saleen piece.
...but for budget reasons and because I like he circles in the fog light positions, I want to see what's possible with the DIY/Screen approach.

Sorry, read too fast and missed your budget comment.
I did see someone do what your asking before, but can't find a post.
I can tell you that on the 302S grill the heavy metal mesh just sits behind the openings, and is then wire tied into place thru small holes drilled into the plastic. Tied in 6 places, two top, two bottom, one on each side. Before I installed mine I beefed it up a bit by using some clear silicone on the wire tie points, but on the back side where they are not seen.
Hope that might help some....

A lot of Boss guys put screens or something in place of the delete plates. There is a guy on bossmustangsonline that sells a kit. Should work on your grille, it uses the drill and wire attachment method.

Some guys get gutter screen from Home Depot, cut it to fit and put that in.

Mike... I was in your same dilemma a year or so ago. I even had a thread on it. I was THIS close to getting the saleen grille. I decided instead to go with COB Halos and had the fogs tinted to complete the look. The research I did showed that the cooling effect from the open fogs was minimal especially in day to day driving. I don't track it, so I wouldn't see the full effect from it anyways.
But if you MUST have the cooling, I suggest going with the Saleen grille. The DIY for the circular openings was something I also considered, but I saw some DIY's that looked terrible and that dissuaded me altogether from going that route.

Great question!
Although I love the look of the MMD Boss Style Fog Light Deletes
doing something like this DIY sounds like a fun little project.
Although I don't know which materials they used, I have seen it done and it looks awesome!
I feel as if any quality mesh will work as you don't want to take a rock in there!
I'd love to see what you do with this, keep up updated!

There's a good video on Youtube from brenspeed. I had the grille on my old sixer and loved it.
Sorry friend. Yes you can install without removing but you should. The grille has to be drilled on it's lower portion and fastened with push pins in order to sit flush. It's very difficult to get a drill in there let alone your hands. Too easy to mess up....just take the bumper off

This is what I did. It was free for me. I got the mesh from my neighbor. I had to take the front bumper off to remove the fog lights since I didn't want to cut the brackets but it was easy. This is the only pictures I have right now the car is in storage right now.

Most of us won't have access to that. Although I do know the folks that work in that department, but still. It won't be something the masses will be able to obtain.
