Grabber Blue: some history
Grabber Blue: some history
Lot's of discussion in other threads re: Grabber blue...looks like powder blue, too pastel, etc etc.
I had a '71 Grabber Blue Mach 1. At the time, while Ford called it Grabber Blue, the color was generally known as Matra Blue. Matra produced sports cars and Formula one race cars often competing against Ferrari. The cars were often painted French Racing Blue (Bugatti) and the color became known as Matra Blue.
Pictures really do not do it justice, as the tone is much deeper than it appears.
Google Matra race cars and see what you find, for example: Cars were modified race by race, car by car, and driver to driver. ... Team Matra was French/English, with both cars running in French "Blue" paint jobs. ...

Grabber blue also looks a lot like Petty blue.
The story has it that Petty blue was created by accident in 1959 when Richard and Maurice Petty didn't have enough dark blue or white paint to cover their whole car, so they mixed the blue and white paint and used that. They've been using the same shade of blue ever since....
