The G8 Is really Bad A$$. It is an Australian Holden and they build performance cars. Really a Cadillac chassis and a Corvette drive train how an you go wrong. I really wish they still made them. The new Chevy SS is the replacement but they went Buick on the car instead of performance like the Pontiac did.

I wish I could put a switch in the car for a really quite sleeper ride or throw the switch and Gt500 or Roush AB.

I've always liked the G series. But I had no idea of the performance behind these cars. I might sell my daily driver and get a G8 GT!

Is there any chance you are morbidly obese and the G8 driver was about 160lbs?

There's a G8 that I see in town that I know for a fact has a blower on it. Very quick and you can hear the SC whine. You never know what's under the hood.

hahaha dang, that's even more messed up!! He probably has some mods and just kept the exhaust quiet..especially if he is a male in his 40's or 50's. Eventually a lot of guys get tired of the super loud exhaust thing. Loud exhaust doesn't necessarily mean you're fast, and old guys realize this. When I put a blower on mine, I'm still keeping the stock mufflers. I think loud pipes would just get annoying after a while and **** a lot of people off. A lot of the ladies I've known don't seem to like really loud cars all that much either.

Good points all around...

Keep in mind that it's hard to keep up when the other guy gets on the throttle first. You downshifted but it's likely he was already on it.

G8 GXP is a fast car but it was modded, that's the only way he would have beaten you like that. 5.0 Mustang is a faster car stock vs stock.

My buddy has a 2013 camaro SS which has a slightly detuned version of the same engine. 406hp (automatic ) at a 40 roll with both of us in 2nd. I very slowly walk him, if he got the hit, I bet I wouldn't catch and pass him until 5th gear. I once started in 3rd from a 40 roll. I could never catch him.

Those 6.2 engines have great low end torque. Now from a 55 roll. It's no contest, I will frieght train a 6.2

More than likely the G8 had a cai, with "possibly" changed rear gears and a lighter/stronger drive shaft, along with a tune and 93 tune to tie it all in.
So many variables. The only way to really know is to ask the driver what his "secret" is.
