Something out there called "Dr. Color Chip" seems to be THE perfect answer, but it's not cheap. Still awaiting someone to use it and report back:
http://www.drcolorchip.com/
Someone, anyone, let us know if this stuff is as good as it looks to be!!

That sucks about the chip. Most people have no respect for their own things never mind anyone else's. I park so far away from every one else in parking lots , I think Iv'e lost about 6 lbs from all the walking i'm doing.

If the Dr. Color Chip works like it says it will, i wouldn't worry about paint chips. I might try this stuff when the time comes because me and my Dad both have the same color cars.

I went to the dealer and got it. It has the little brush and pen in one. No base/clear BS. I also have white. For little nicks, it would seem a one step paint for white would work fine, although I haven't used mine yet. just bought it ahead of time.

Interesting... sounds way too familiar to me!!!
I either park all the way at the end of the parking lot OR I will find the widest possible corner/end space. Usually around here, the corner and end spaces are wider, sometimes about 1.5 times as wide as the "regular" spots. Perfect fit! Otherwise, walking is healthy too, even in 90 degree weather!
I'm sorry to hear about the ding though... it would drive me nuts! Did anybody ever try that Simoniz (spelling?) scratch away? I'm usually not into infomercials, but they even have it at Target now... just wondering if it really works!

have used with pretty good results...
-touch up paint (but dont use little brush...do as below)
-degrease area of chip
-cut a toothpick in half, and put a small amount of paint on end and slowly tap over chip
-then before dry,use a clean dry cotton q-tip and roll over area with side of cotton (helps blend in)
