MUCH better sound than the regular GoPro's...****, now I'm considering this setup too! Thanks a lot Steve!

But as usual, great info.

After this post I bought a micover, its a furry thing that sticks to back door of cover to cut down on noise.

The mic cover should help a bit, but the problem with the GoPro HD is that the internal mic itself just isn't that great. So it's still going to sound sort of muffled/underwater.

I run a micover, but its a 10% improvement at best for wind noise unfortunately. On a per dollar and convenience level, its fantastic and I recommend most get this, at the same time its no comparison to the sound quality from Steve's setup. The mic's in the gopros remain tinny, susceptible to wind noise and howl, and have generally poor sensitivity.

I agree, but I cant throw away a $300.00 camera that I bought less then 8 months ago just to get his, he said his mic wont work on the GoPro 960

Also curious about how you mounted the microphone. Just another suction cup mount, similar to the GoPro?

I taped the mic to the center of the bumper, above the license plate.
