As stated in other posts on here, dealer orders are being "built" while customer orders are being "held".

Hopefully this won't turn into 2005 again where people who "ordered" early in the process were lucky if the car got built.

Doesn't surprise me any.

Of course high demand will mean longer delivery times...

I hope they weren't just using 2010 figures as a model when switching the line to only 1 shift.

If Ford goes through with the layoff (2 shifts to 1, and 35% increase in speed) assuming that the mustang accounts for half of the production:

102,000 / 2 (half mazda) /2 (shift cut) x 1.35 (line increase in speed) thats only 34,425 mustangs a year.

If they have 11,000 requested, thats gona take 4+ months just for those. That also doesn't account for continous future orders. This throws a huge wrench into my plans.

How can the numbers be that low. In 2005-6 they built more than 150,000 mustangs per year. In the limited productionn year of 2009 which was very short they made around 45,000. Doesn't make sense.

They share the plant with Mazda and an article I saw said that sales for the 2010 Mustangs dropped by about 25%.

The full capacity of the plant is somewhere around 240,000 I think. I linked the original article with the 102,000 number in another thread and I think it does sound low to me, even with a steep sales drop.

I remember 240,000 as well. I also remember reading somewhere that they were not split 50/50, but actually 66/33, with 2 mustangs being produced for every mazda 6. And that lines up perfectly with the ~150k annual production number mentioned earlier in this thread.

So 150k * 1.35 / 2 = 101k.

Keep in mind that the launch of the all new Mazda6 didn't generate as much buzz as they hoped. Maz6 sales have been slowly dropping year after year, including the redesign year. This leaves room for more stangs to be built.
