Is it good to drive at WOT once in a while?
I have heard mechanics tell me that it's good to drive at wide open throttle once in awhile to clear the drive train from dust or whatnot. I only done this once in my mustang. Is it true that this is good for the engine if done lets say once or twice a day?
WOT is not gonna hurt anything but gas mileage. Over revving will. Your car is computer controlled and is designed to control air/fuel correctly. Put it to the floor and enjoy it.

It's called an "Italian tune-up".
My dad would regale me with stories of when he used to work at a mechanic's shop and these little old ladies would bring their cadillacs in and say they weren't running as well and could they please do a tune-up.
My dad would then proceed to take it out and stomp the hell out of the gas pedal, thus blowing out all the carbon build-up in the cylinders from under-use. It'd fix them right up.
Of course, nowadays with cleaner fuel and computer-controlled engines, carbon build-up isn't really a problem, but it's still good for the engine to let her breathe at her best once in a while. Think of it as reinstalling Windows and getting rid of all that crap that's built up.

Don't remind me. **** that route I took, I was so ready to kill and once it broke free, I was going way, way over the speed limit.
Yeah...as soon as my engine is fully warmed up, WOT could happen at any moment.
I don't powershift very often, I definitely don't over-rev the motor... but that throttlebody is WFO numerous times a day.
