Glass top Mustang sunshade removal and repair.

The retractable sunshade on my 2013 GT premium is stuck closed. The dealer says it's not covered under my extended warranty. I'm in the process of appealing that but until then does anyone know how do I remove the interior trim pieces so I can get to my sunshade mechanism and perhaps fix it myself?

Edit: Fixed! Keep reading.

I have not seen anything on this out there. If I run across something I will share. So has yours been closed since last March? I assume you are like most of us and rarely close the cover. Update us on your situation.

Thanks. I got it open last summer and left it that way until this week. Closed it and it's stuck closed, again. It will open in occasion, but only when warm outside, and certainly not with any consistency even then.

I filed a warranty claim thru my Ford ESP Plan. Ford denied it. I filed an appeal with the BBB. Ford denied my appeal, stating my retractable sunshade cover is considered "interior trim" and therefore excluded under the warranty. BS! And apparently Ford didn't even swallow their own BS because with their denial letter came a check to cover the dealers $1500 estimate! FANTASTIC!

But that was last summer, I spend the money on mods, and it's still stuck closed. Even when I had the cash NO WAY I was gonna pay anyone that much to fix it, I like to fix things myself.

Any links or pics of the headliner removal or all the trim that has to come out first would be helpful. My brain thinks the dash needs to come out to remove the a-pillar cover and the b and c-pillar cover somehow magically come lose too.

As for usage, quite the opposite, I used it daily when it worked. I usually left it open when driving and closed when parked at work to keep the sun out.

There are videos on the net showing the " A " pillar cover removal, & it has nothing to do with the dash..

Thanks, found those. Didn't find much on c-pillar removal. Where might I find an exploded diagram of the sun shade mechanism?

Mine broke about two years back and had the ford dealership fix it. It cost me almost $1200 for the parts and labor. The glass roof is an awesome option that I do miss a lot but if you mess with closing it much eventually it will come off the track and break. I will be surprised if your extended warranty covers the fix.

Well I fixed it! I'm gonna slap a video together later but it wasn't too bad. There's a tiny cable on a spool one each side and one of the cables got misaligned and pinched and caught in the roller. Realigned and reassembled and it works!

Glad you got it fixed.
I have never used the shade in either car, & will keep it that way.

Great News! Glad you got it fixed... want to see your video.

I can't say I have never used mine, but it has only been a few times. Only when it gets over 105° and my shift **** is so f'n hot I get an image of the shift pattern on my hand when you grab it. Got to love that aluminum shift ****.
