Getting inline to order a 2011 GT500 - MSRP Anyone?

Hey guys... Trolled around for a long time, though this is my first post. I'm turning in my beloved '06 GT for a new Shelby. Has anyone else begun making the rounds to get on a "pre-order" list with a dealer? I've been through a few dealers already. I have found 2 dealers that laughed and **** near showed me the door when I said 2011 for Sticker. Another worked with me and was ready to take a deposit up until I said sticker and "politely" explained they will be looking for over sticker on the 2011 - This was the very same dealer that was willing to get me a 2010 from (swap from another dealer) for sticker no problem not 15 minutes prior...

Finally, I have a dealer that has agreed to 2011 Shelby for sticker, but they didn't take a deposit from me at the time (going back 3-4 weeks). I'll be calling them today to try and make a deposit/getting MSRP in writing.

With that said, Has anyone else begun making the rounds and what are you seeing/what did you agree to pay?

With so many "new" 2008-2009 Shelbys still on lots, and more 2010's still on showroom floors, are we really expecting that we need to pay 5K+ on a 2011?

I have mine on pre-order, but does not have any pricing info yet. I just left 500$ deposit to be the first the dealer will call when order book open.

The Dealer that I'm working with will give me X-plan for my 2011 GT. This will be the third Mustang I've bought from him. If for some reason he doesn't give me X-plan then I'll just wait.

The economy is getting better, but it's still not as good as it was in 2004-2005. So, I think it should be a lot easier to buy a 2011 for MSRP or less then it was back then for a 2005 Mustang.

Nothing is selling above MSRP anymore in our area. We sold all of our 2010 GT500's below MSRP, and I suspect we'll offer 2011's below, as well, once we get pricing and allocation info from Ford.

I have a dealer offering my invoice and 3 others offering 1%. You should not have to pay over invoice at all.

Edit...thats for the GT I'm not sure about the GT500

There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to pickup a 2011 GT500 for MSRP or less. The demand just isn't there like it was for the high end Stangs. I don't see the aluminum block making it a gotta have car.

That is probably exactly why they are trying to get markups on the '11 -- to try and unload what they have before they sell what is coming in. If the '11 is the same price, the older models would never sell?

You know... As I sit here, the fact that none of these dealers have a list of people already, leads me to believe you guys are right... When I went to the dealer in '06 they had 12 people on a list for the 2 '07 GT500s they were allocated... Four dealers in total, and none have had anyone but me come in to get on a "list." Two salesmen didn't even understand what I meant when I asked about getting on a list.

Hey Ray, if you don't mind a short drive south, I can order you your GT500 for MSRP. I had an order for one at MSRP to a fellow forum member, but things changed in his life and he had to cancel his order. He sent me a $500 deposit, and he was going to get my 1st GT500 for 2011 once I could order it. If your interested and can't find a dealer near you in NY to offer the same, let me know with a call or PM.

Ray I just sent you a PM. Give me a call and we can talk.
