General Long tube header question. American Racing or others.

I am new to muscle cars, my 5.0 being my 1st. I have had downpipes on most of my cars replaced with aftermarket. But never long tube headers. someone told me that almost all long tubes protrude lower than oem and become the lowest point under the car, often scraping on driveways and banging on concrete.

Wondering if this is true.

If you go with cats behind the long tubes then they will be the lowest part of the exhaust system.

The stock cats are tucked up under the factory shorties instead of being down under the car like they will be with long tube headers.

Other than that, so long as you don't lower the car too much and SLOW DOWN over speed bumps and such, then you shouldn't have any major scraping.

Go with Kooks. You dont lose any ground clearance with them and i picked up 32 hp and 27tq with their header and x pipe combo on my shelby.
