Which GAS??
Maybe the larger companies mixing the ethanol has allowed the smaller ones to supply pure gasoline. Dunno. We still have a few stations here that advertise no ethanol but they are off brands. It's a trick also. The ethanol bumps the octane rating but it decreases the efficiency. Ethanol is pretty much pure alcohol but it burns colder so it doesn't generate the force when it burns.

But knowing Oregon, the governor mandated 10% to follow EPA & kiss the Feds asz to get Fed funds. They're hoping to develop bio-fuels over corn to help clean up the forest and the slash to reduce the risk of further massive forest fires. Of course that would mean the Feds would have to open up the forest again - which they won't. Stirring up dust on logging roads kills salmon don't ya know.

Gotcha. Here they will only sell you 'clear' gas (no eth) at the bulk stations and then only in your container - not in your vehicle.

Ok so mixed feelings on gas lol.
Quick question though...why in the world would anyone be worried about their MPG when they drive a Mustang? lol I hope no one bought the car for that.

Page 289 of the owners manual. I use 93 for max performance.
Octane recommendations (5.0L V8 engine)
Your vehicle will run normally on 87 octane regular fuel without
damaging the engine, but premium fuel with an octane rating of 91
(R+M)/2 or higher is recommended for best overall performance.
For Shelby GT500 octane requirements, see the Shelby GT500
Supplement.

And regarding "best gas", what do you think qualifies that?
I'm from Missouri and they sell at the highest 91 for the most part. But some Cenex stations sell 93. There's one right outside of town I used to run. But like Kylerohde said, Unless you're car has been tuned it's a waste of money. I ran it in a 68 Mustang that's carb was calibrated for it. But carbs are less tempermental than ECM's tuned to run a certain octane. If you don't run a certain octane it messes with detonation, which screws up timing(i.e. the VCT that the new 5.0's have) and can crack blocks if it gets too high. Of course this is long term and running it with every fill-up. I'd stick with 91 which is what it was setup to run. No more, no less unless your car is tuned for it.
Sorry about the long post just figured I'd put my two cents in. Stock tune? Stick with 91 and she'll run like a champ.
And yes, mods, I realize this is off-topic, but I felt compelled to make the comment. There is not a single one of us who wouldn't benefit from learning more about forests and how to protect them.

I know... the city based enviro freak lawyers in their gas hog SUV's and huge fancy houses burning lights & energy all day while they live in a cement world, who get a guaranteed meal ticket from ESA (written in the law), will not let experienced conservationists who actually walk the land (and mostly live in or near the forest), manage our forests and wild lands properly for safety, balanced usage, and longevity. Hollywood whackadoodles vs common sense foresters.

That's because you're from Alabama.
What part down there?
Like Al said, same thing here. Little local stations advertise ethanol free gas, and I don't trust them, most of them are owned by Indians, no offense to anyone, but I take all they put out there with a grain of salt.
Right. And now that natural gas is abundant they hate it too. The greenies used to hold it up as a bastion because of the low emissions. But as soon as they found a **** ton of it and ways to get it, now its the devil too (IE the new Matt Damon movie they've been running trailers for). Its all a ruse and a scam, you could have free fuel that didn't harm the planet in any way and the greenies and Holywood would come up with a reason that it was bad. Its the liberal mantra. Take us back to the stone ages, bring us down to rock bottom, and lift the third world sihtholes up just a little so more people will worship them.

One thing I did hear recently is an upcoming facility that will produce diesel from natural gas instead of petroleum. Not sure how they are doing it but it should be huge if its economical to produce. That opens up a lot more room for petroleum to be used more for gasoline.
*Raises hand* and I'm guessing almost anybody that daily drives their Mustang does too. Sure, it doesn't matter if it's your weekend toy but if you drive 30,000 miles in 15 months like I have, mileage matters. Of course it's not my only consideration but if this thing only got 15, I wouldn't have bought it.
I don't "garage" my Mustang for weekend/sunshine only type drives. I gets driven daily. Nine months and 37K later, and still going strong.
