Functional hood scoop

I love the look of the factory hood scoop of the 2011 GTs. Do you think FORD will ever make the scoop functional? It would be nice for the hood to be nice aesthetically and functional.

No, Ford won't make it functional, maybe some other scoop like a Mach1 shaker but probably not even that.

The scoop does not look right on the power dome hood. Perhaps the next redesign will have a hood that flows better with a functional scoop.

Raise the powerdome more and make it a cowl hood

The Powerdome looks awesome as is IMHO there is no need to put the tacky looking hood scoop on it and make it look worse.

I know hoods exist for the first gen S-197's that are functional. Not a shaker system either, a hood scoop that is on the hood, and a duct runs under the hood to dump the fresh cool air over your filter. Not worth much though.

Oh I thought you were talking about making this functional lol

Yeah I don't think they will to be honest. But I think the closest you will get from Ford making a functional hood scoop is this one you can buy from Ford Racing. IMO I think it looks nice but I always loved the shaker hood scoops.

Sorry for the terrible suggestion? I didn't know that was a chebby idea. Honestly, you can only make so many different hoods. Are all the flat hoods on the Mustangs jsut like the flat camaro hoods? What about the SN95 hood with the scoop, oh god, it's just like the Fbody with the scoop

Sorry to sound like a dick, all hoods have been used on all kinds of cars, all I'm saying

My favorite in appearance is the split reverse scoop of the termi cobras. Not sure if it did anything, but it looked good.

Regardless, I have more respect for functional scoops over non-functional ones. But functional hood scoops aren't very practical for modern engine designs. And probably not really better than the current cold air intake. I'm kind of guessing here. I don't really know. Maybe they should make a scoop that is a second intake attached to a clutched supercharger than can be turned on and off. You have Bullits and Mach 1s. Now time for a Mad Max Mustang.
