Frostbitten from Shifter...
Well that might be a slight exaggeration, but dang if the stock aluminum shift **** in my GT doesn't get freaking freezing cold (and blistering hot in the summer)! On the drive home from work, my hand was numb from holding the shifter (bumper to bumper traffic for 18 miles).
It'd be nice if someone developed something similar to a drink cozy for those round shifters!

Buy a pint of Crown, drink it, put the bag on the shifter and you'll both be warm.

I was taught way back when that its bad for the shifter/tranny to do that but I don't remember why?

The vent can usually point low enough to reach my shifter and the heat is there especially if you have been in traffic. The heat in my car is down right rediculous haha. If it is that cold where you are then I would think gloves would be a wise investment even beyond just driving.

It's hilarious it when people whine about their shifter being too cold or too hot. it goes away after a minute. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Wow, I hope you get it fixed... especially on a relatively newer vehicle like yours. My heater is like a sauna or worse if I leave it on.

First, you shouldn't be resting your hand on the shifter. Second...really? You want a tea cozy for a shift ****?
The nature of bumper to bumper traffic is you do a lot of shifting (especially with 3.73 gears). In the summer, there's no way you could rest your hand continually on the thing (I'd like to see someone try to hold it for more than 10 seconds- kinda like the kalimara torture stones from Indiana Jones ).
...and I was thinking more along the lines of a beer foam coozy!

Hmmm, I have a temp sensor gun that we use in the lab, and I might have to conduct some experiments... However, from anecdotal experience I can tell you the effects last far longer than one minute. When its 108 here in Dallas, that dang shifter has to be around 130-140 or so... and it stays that way for quite a while. In the winter, that kid from "A Christmas Story" would probably get his tongue stuck on the thing!
Anyway, my observation remains the same- the aluminum shifter looks nice, and feels good in moderate weather, but it certainly turns extreme temperatures into a shifting adventure!

I burn so much unneed gas by keeping it at 2.5-3k rpms in order to finally get some heat. Its gone from being annoying to downright frustrating. My 02 never had problems

I was always taught that you can't drive the car with the shifter. Put your hand on the wheel where it belongs.
