FORD RECOMMENDS BP
FORD RECOMMENDS BP
I remember hearing about mid year 2005 Mustangs having a "BP Recomemded" note on either the fuel door or gas cap and I see it's also listed in the 2011 Owners manual (page 293).
With BP's recent PR hit, will you use BP fuel in your 2011 Mustang?
Do you think Ford's recommendation will have an affect on them in any way?

LOL I was thinkin' that! My cap says that... but there's no BP's around here. Besides, I don't run brand name fuel and pay for all those ads. My buddy that drives tanker truck drops at all the stations. The only diff is each brand's "additive".

Just as it was back then, it's just a business thing. I'm sure many brands suffice.

No BP up here....
ok this might be dumb *** idea...but why can't they just drop a heavy object on pipe and squash it shut...im sure some will still leak until they get relief well done...but better then what they have tryed so far...
ps: another reason for our american friends to forgo arab and deep sea oil...and invest in canadian tar sands...100 + year supply up here

Not with other brands or the cheap stuff. Here you can get non eth but not in your car. Have to lug it in 5 gals for your 'small engines'.

Does it really matter?
I just get something that I know won't be messed with by the owners (since some like to water it down or put 87 in the 93 tank, etc.) and stick with it. Right now, it's a Marathon station and no problems in 2+ years of use.
I don't have a brand loyalty, I go with what works for a good price.

With my tune, I've noticed:
Chevron 93 = almost no pinging (I notice some pinging that I can't reproduce maybe once a month)
Shell, BP 93 = occasional pinging - happens every time I'm past 4000rpm at WOT
Exxon Mobil 93 = lots of pinging unless I'm extremely gentle
Now I don't even go to other gas stations.. I only go to Chevron.

They are all the same..advertising hype..if you want to believe something then you will believe it...SO then don't feel bad for paying for the ad exec's lavish lifestyle...maybe they'll own a Ferrari that'll put away our 5.0's thanks to you.....just kidding
I also use BP whenever I can, but just because of the 5% discount if you use a BP credit card. Besides, BP in my area is as cheap as any other brand, even without the 5% off. Using the card makes it about 15 cents a gallon cheaper with gas prices as high as they are.
