When you say give them your VIN # when ordering the tuner, give it to who? Because I might order it from say, American Muscle... I have to give them my VIN????
Before I put the tune in I went over to see my service rep and he pulled the info up that the other Dave(DeFreeze) posted and said just to follow the instructions and its no issue for them since it was a Ford Tune. After I did it I had to take it in for oil change and the brake fluid cap just didnt fit right so they replaced that and he had me come over to where the car was and they had it hooked up to a computer and the Mech said the install upgrade was perfect. I have the certificate from the pro cal and date installed. Just beware, some dealers here in the USA are not as good as others. I had him sign my cert/receipt. He was very cool and told me he wasnt going to charge me for flipping a switch. But Yes they require the Vin because I think its more of a cost thing, using it and selling it but not 100% sure on that. DJ
