Geez, is this car fun

I've driven my F150 for so long, I've forgotten how much fun a car with some guts can be. I absolutely love this new Mustang!

On my wish list is a nice exhaust, a CAI, and perhaps the tuner. First though will be the fog light kit, as I drive through some heavy morning fog.

I plan on reading posts here each day. Great learning site.

congrats on your new hot rod

If you do go for the CAI, you'll almost certainly need a tuner...and you'll also void your engine warranty...and yes, they'll know even if you flash it back to stock. Just keep that in mind going in.

That V6 makes some of the best V6 noises out there... and good exhaust will be a lot of fun!

Sounds like you got the right axle ratio... what other options did you go for?

You don't NEED a tune for a CAI, it just doesn't do that much without one. There's no negative without a tune

OK. There are some CAIs offered that don't need a tune...but as you said, they're pointless.
The only reason you would want a CAI is to flow more air which allows you to burn more fuel and make more power.

The CAIs that don't require a tune presumably don't flow significantly more air...so what's the point?

I agree. I just purchased an '11 V6 Premium as well and I'm having a blast!

I went to the dealer, expecting to buy a Kona blue coupe. Sat in one, took it for the test drive, came back to buy it. On the way back inside, there was a red 2011, loaded with options I was going to stay away from to keep the price into the payment range I could afford. This red one had leather, premium package, 3:31 rear, kicker sound, and the factory chrome wheels (resemble the old crager type rims I grew up with). Not that I nessesarily believe it, but the sales person said the owner bought it, drove it 3000 miles before his wife pitched a fit because they had 3 kids and he did not need a "sports car". He suposedly traded it in on an Explorer. So I dropped the Kona and went with this loaded red 2011.

I'm happy with it. It makes the 70 mile trip each day a fun drive!

Thanks on the heads up on the tunner suggestion. I had a Supertuner with my 2005 F150, along with a CAI, and exhaust, and electric fan setup. I will go with a mild sounding exhaust, and a CAI, but will verify the tunner and warranty issue. Getting more air into and out of the engine will still be on the list though.

A CAI without tune isn't pointless, it has the same benefits of an axle back exhaust, sound and slight airflow increase. I agree, however, that a CAI without tune will not give the advertised power increase.

Congrats on your 2011 though, sounds like quite the ride. Post some pics!!!!

Bucko:

Agree. Fully.

Now that I've put ~7K miles on the machine since early October, I think I like 4th gear the best... they're a little like yer kids: love 'em all but one's a bit more special. Power aplenty and can slow the car too.

I don't know how the guys & gals with 5.0's control themselves !
Power and crisp handling are quite intoxicating. Plus the bonus of rear wheel drive handling. AND it's not a Bimmer !

Yep. Glad I bought it.

Looks like you have the Pony edition; I don't have that. My wheels are more like the old Craggers style 5 spoke.
