Ford Racing GT500 Crate Engine

On Craig's List, thought someone might be interested:

What would it take to put this in one of our cars?

That is a pretty cheap price. I wonder if it kinda fell off the truck. Maybe one would need gloves to touch it so you wouldn't get burned.

Yeah I kinda wondered about that too . . . but there can't be many of them falling off trucks, and I think they are serialized, so putting it on Craig's list seems like a real good way to get caught.

That's a little too cheap to be legal.

Run, do not walk, away. What conceivable reason would there be to sell a "$18K" engine for less than 1/2 that amount? "Something is rotten in Denmark" and its not the cheese.

But isn't the supercharger missing so wouldn't that lower the cost of the engine by quite a bit?

No . On Ford official parts website the motor is $16,333.33. The supercharger is around $2,500 extra.
