Angry Ford how about a Nav Update!!??

OK maps are horibbly out of date and so is the music database. NavTeq say this comes from Ford and most recent one from NavTeq is for 2010 models (guess thats whats in mine) and the 2012 model year is done in a few months!!

So how about it??

How do the nav screen models get updates? Do you d/l off syncmyride?

My Toyota gets new DVDs, but it also requires a DVD to run.

A DVD that loads all the maps and music database etc to the hard drive.

It's called GraceNote, it's what allows the radio to get things like album art, artists and track names from CDs. It also helps with some of the voice recognition with MyFordTouch, assumed to be the same with the nav radio. Unfortunately the drawback is that its basically out of date as soon as they publish one version, because obviously music is constantly being released.

That's a fail. The car should be able to optionally download the GraceNote info via Sync Services -- like how a non-NAV car downloads driving directions.

Hi guys,

I got a hold of NAVTEQ regarding the new update and they mentioned that they come out every 12-18 months. The latest update out there is the 3.1 which came out July of 2010 and the new one should be out soon. January 2012 marks the 18th month, so I hope before then. If anyone has any further questions, you can contact NAVTEQ at 1-866-462-8837. I hope this helps.

+1 Or, you can call NAVTEQ with the make and model of your vehicle and they can determine which one you have and if an update is available, Ethanjbeau.

Yes, RadioFr33Europe. Right now the only one showing on their site is the v.3.1X at $199. Here is the link for future reference:http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INT...gationMenu=YES.

Will the Nav update be free? or will we have to purchase DVD's?

Ford should really provide this update for free considering the maps were out of date before we even got our cars!

Hi LLZuB,

Your vehicle came equipped with the most up-to-date DVD available to the public at this time. The DVD updates are available via NAVTEQ at the customer’s expense. The info is in my previous post.

I contacted Ford CS directly to get an answer on this. I was told that they got the updates from NAVTEQ and to call them, so I did (lastweek).

Navteq advised that they update this for Ford, at Ford's request about every 12-18 months and that it is hoped a new update shall be released within the next month. They (NAVTEQ) show an update in the pipeline. The latest Gracenote will also go out with it and Gracenote is updated every 1/4.

I am very disappointed with Ford on this as a 2011 and thus a 2012 and 2013 model sold with the nav system will have a nav database and from 2010!! This is very poor service especially considering the cost of the nav system option.

Agreed - especially when you consider a Garmin Nuvi which sells for $189 bucks comes with free lifetime map updates...

I might be mistaken, but I thought I read with the My Ford touch updates mailed out it said there would be a NAV update sd card in the kit. If so that would be great for those that have the cool yet buggy system.
