I'll believe it when Ford release a press release. Still, I do love a bit of speculation

Five Point O has a nice ring to it

I like this part:

Despite all the talk about a more fuel-efficient V6, Ford is reportedly also developing a supercharged version of its 5.0-liter V8 to be stuffed into a new flagship model that would compete with the Chevy Corvette ZR1 and Dodge Viper SRT10.

If the new V6 isn't designed for FWD transverse mount only I'm sure it will find it's way into the Mustang

Twin Turbo Goodness…

I might be in the minority, but the special edition that’s on my wish list is an all new SVO Mustang…with a turbocharged six putting out 325-350 HP, 6-speed manual, carbon fiber hood and rear deck, the Brembo brake set up from the GT 500, light weight 18" wheels, upgraded suspension and to keep up with the SVO tradition of using progressive technology, Ford should debut the Independent Rear Suspension on this model …Now that’s what I want.

Here's a great (mostly speculative... ) story that AutoBlog was referencing from Motor Trend...

http://www.motortrend.com/future/fut...0_ford_mustang

This story says the return of the 5.0 is a done deal and goes on to mention that the GT500 will continue with the body style change... I know, I know, nothing that we didn't really already "know," but it gets me excited reading it from somewhere other than internet forums!!

The new bodystyle and engines can't get here soon enough!!!!!!!

I think they're getting their ______chargers crossed. The BON insiders have been adament that GTDI is where they're going.

BTW: I vote new Cobra for the ZR1/Viper fighter, based off a platform shared with the next RX-7/9.

Nice "speculation" but I'd rate Motor Trend's Future watch as having about 20% accuracy.

They mention the 4.0 soldering on, while other rumors have been the 4.0 is going away.

Given the torque curve of the Dual turbo 3.5 ( 340 lb ft from 2,000 to >5,000 RPM), I really don't seen the need for a 6 speed trannie.

I can see them having multiple variants of the 5.0 engine...

Everything from N/A, SuperCharged, TwinTurbo'd

The numbers seem off though on 5.0 power

Motortrend Wrong on this...

The doors remain the same, as do the roof and the fixed, triangle-shaped windows in the sail panels.

The Mazda 6 should debut in NY in MArch...Their door handles will more than likely be used on the Mustang...I can't see them stocking two types of handles on the line.

Agree, would like to see Ford offer something like the following:

- GT with 5.0L NA V8 making 350 hp
- Boss with 5.0L NA V8 making 400 hp
- GT500 with TT 5.0L V8 making 500 hp

I know it's not true to its roots, but a 400hp Ecoboost "Boss" would be pretty trick. Make it lightweight and throw in an IRS rear. I'd sign up right now.

i tihnk it should go sometihng like this
Base V6- 250hp & TQ 5 spd auto/man.
TT V6-325 hp & TQ 5 speed man
NA 4.6 3v-350 hp & TQ 5 speed man
TT5.0-enough to kill a zr1

the thing i dont get though, if ford is wanting to compete and kill the zr1; why go smaller displacement?

One thing Ford could do is offer an EcoBoost V6 option in the Boss. I'd still go the V8 route but it would give an alternative

I'd kick the 4.6 outta that list, add in a 375-400hp 5.0 4v

Also, depending on how high tech and efficient HP wise... the 5.0TwinForce could be lighter than the 6.2L S/C LS9...but depending on WhAT it's going into.
You won't have a 5.0TT mustang that (even at the same HP level) would kill a ZR1.

If Ford gave the option of a twin turbo V6 vs. V8, I'd be all over the turbo. A factory boosted motor is often very easy to mod.

That new iron 5.0 modular Boss block would be a good foundation for a TT performance engine capped w/DOHC heads.

I don't think that Ford would build a TT bigger displacement engine with the new CAFE rules. Thinking logically, I'd think that they'd decrease the displacement to something like 4.4 liters.
