first time at the drag strip, I'M HOOKED!

went out to Lapeer drag strip with max5oh and his boss yesterday to let the ponies run. it was such a blast!!!

best run of the day was a 12.908 @ 111mph on stock tires, only mod I have is roush AB's

Observations:

-stock shifter SUCKSSSSSSSS...at least half of my runs went into 5th instead of 3rd and nerfed my times
-car got mad wheel hop/spin through 2nd
-I would kill for the extra 500 rpm's in the boss...hit rev limiter in 4th every single good run that didnt get nerfed by the shifter

needless to say: new shifter and LCA's will be ordered asap haha

had an amazing first time out, got 12 passes in. it was such a rush!

video will be following shortly, ill post up a link

Really nice video shots!

I would have to say that your 2nd and 3rd runs had the best launch...minimal wheel spin and wheel hop. Unfortunately, wheel hop is a common charateristic on a stock suspension for these mustangs. On a stock suspension and on street tires, one thing you can do to minimize the wheel hop is by bringing the rear tire pressure to about 25 lbs.... that should help you with some of the tire spin as well.

Oh and one more thing....Man your car sounds awesome!!!!

Good thing your issues are relatively cheap fixes. For $5-600, you can get a shifter, shifter bracket, and LCAs to solve what you experienced.

Shifter and Shifter bracket are a must. You will no longer miss the 2-3 shift. A decent set of LCA's are also a must for reduced wheel hop. Those are great times though... especially at Lapeer.

thanks everyone, it was fun making the video!! have a few ideas on some new shots for the next time I go as well.

we should plan a meet (prob too late this year) and have a big mustang stampede/takeover of the strip that would be AWESOME!
also, maybe we could go all over michigan and hit a few different tracks and strips over a few weekends next summer? like all head to gingerman one weekend, all head to lapeer another weekend, etc.

I actually did lower the rear tires to 26psi too

can't wait to get those upgrades and lower my times. might end up getting some new wheels next spring and go 285's in the back for some extra meat in addition to the shifter and lca's...that stuff is getting done first and foremost though.

Cool video! I can't wait to raise the rev limiter when I get tuned.

Haven't been to Lapeer since `99 with my LS1... still looks the same.
Only good thing about there is you can get a lot of runs.
Milan has better more accurate equipment and better prep, plus the pits aren't dirt and gravel.
New shifter is a must, My MGW totally transformed the car and the driving experience.
