I must say I am quite impressed so far. Got my snow tires installed on Saturday, got about a foot of snow since. I went with the new Michelin X-Ice Xi2. With the stock all season tires I could barely leave my driveway, but so far I've been fine with the new ones.. The snow tires really let the traction control work its magic, to anyone worried about driving their GT during the winter, get snow tires and you will be fine. It doesn't doesn't take off like a 4WD, but does stop as good as any of my past AWD/4WD vehicles has, also tracks down the road well.
The daily car washes to get the salt off are getting expensive though

I see you have an Audi A4. I'll be getting my new A4 Avant Quattro soon. I put my 5.0 away for the winter. Good luck in the snow.

It is good to hear the traction isn't too bad, but the thing that really concerns me about driving in the snow with these cars (other than the other drivers) is the salt kicking up from the road and any salt trucks passed. My current winter car has literally hundreds of nicks in the hood/bumper from this!

Sold the A4 to get the gt, I'll miss the Quattro during the winter I'm sure. Honestly probably sell the GT in 4 years anyway, so not that concerned about other drivers/salt. Now if I can ever get a GT500, that will be a summer only car....

I got Michelin Alpin PA3s 2 weeks ago (http://www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?ti...ilot+Alpin+PA3) and the 5.0 has been amazing in the cold/snow. No issue at all - very stable.

I have the Xice Xi2's as well and this is my 2nd winter in them, it's a solid tire. And a good performer in the snow.

I took my car out today with about 1.5 inches of snow. I did not get the brembro package so I have the 18" all season stock tires. I seemed to get around fine as long as I was careful. I still think I will get snow tires and probably the 3m clear bra to protect some from chips but I would guess unless it's deep snow you could manage with the stock (non summer) tires.
