First '11 Mods
First '11 Mods
What will you guys get for your first '11 mods? I think getting an auto gears might be the best right now since we have no idea what performance mods there will be. I know it comes with 3:15's so what would be a good gear with a 6spd auto?
My first mod will be a skipshift eliminator. After that, due to other financial responsibilities, it will probably be a long time before I change anything. Eventually I might upgrade the wheels and tires (I only opted for the stock wheels/tires). Given how refined and powerful Mustangs have become lately, can't say I'll be much inclined to change anything else.
I think you will find that the 3.15's will work pretty well, reason being that the first gear in the 6R80 is a very stout 4.14:1. Use any lower rear gears with that will make first gear so short that you wouldn't like it.
Thanks man. I guess i will just wait for exhaust and tune then...or maybe just keep it stock. I always say that though.
I was slightly off on the first gear, it is a 4.17:1 ratio!

Probably wouldn't touch it for the first year at least, but let me dream:
1. old school metal stick shifter with a white ball (Hurst style but not necessarily Hurst)
2. window tint
3. 255/45's rear and 235/45's front for the standard 18"wheels, or if really dreaming, Wider 18" Magnum 500's or drag wheels
4. lowered 2"
5. long tubes
6. throttle body
7. 9:1 forged rotating assembly and a whipple (dreaming really big!)

Don't know much about the type of exhaust system the car has. I normally remove the secondary cats on these cars as these are behind the rear 02 sensors and won't affect the car kicking off a CEL. Next would probably stretch out the OEM Brembo package wheels to 19X10 front and 19X10.5" rear. If I can't get the 19X10 to fit in front I will just stretch the rears out to 19X10 to get a nice fit on a 285/35/19 for the rear. Maybe a slight drop, very slight. If I can't get this with springs I'll go with a coil over setup and that will be about it. Oh forgot the important one..remove that skipshift!

Skip shift thing,
Lower suspension on my GT with FRPP, it sits too high to my taste. I would keep the 19" wheels from Ford, i like them.
And then sit back ( not too long though...
), enjoy the car, and see what else can be done to it.

And a CDC chin spoiler/light tint. Maybe the Boss grille...
I agree here. Skipshift eliminator, tint and coilovers. I've done the separate spring/shock stuff and I'm done with it. Fulll adjustable coilovers from now on. I want to be able to lower the car and still keep the stock ride quality...

The skipshift is going to be the first to go. Followed by CAI/exhaust/tune and that'll be it for awhile. I ordered the brembo package/3.73's so that should be enough for me while I feed my wallet.
