Crappy attempt (Photoshop and in theory) to cover up rat chew marks.

Ok, ready for my suggestion? I just thought of it while looking at your pics.

Landscape fabric/weed fabric. Available at any gardne or home improvement stores. Cut off a piece close to the same color (gray or black), attach to existing padding, and voila.

Hmm very interesting. I'll visit Lowe's tomorrow. Thanks for the idea! I'll let you know how it works out.

waking up a sleeping thread, but has anyone actually replaced the padding i have mine going in on wednesday for an inspection due to this problem as it is covered by my storage policy but i have a 300 dollar deductible and if the padding is cheaper than that it might be something i do myself but my insurance wants a mechanical inspection done prior to repair so unless they got into the wiring harness it might be cheaper to do myself unless i have to remove the motor to do this

Insurance covered my repairs so the padding was replaced with a factory new piece. The body shop told me they had to lift the engine (I’m not sure of the details) so I think it can only be done correctly by a shop.

i contacted my insurance, got my claim number, talked to the only shop that would touch rodent repairs, was told it needed a mechanical inspection my insurance is paying for that, then they just need to send in the estimate to do the repair, i have a 300 deductible so i am thinking this is going to cost more than that so i will be dropping it off at the shop Wednesday which seems to be the only day without rain for the next 2 weeks and they can take their time with it
