Farewell - 2016!!! Winter is around the corner........

Thanks for a great year, fellow TMS'ers. Marilyn and I enjoyed the ride.

Things done this year:

- Kooks headers, green cats, and side exhaust
- RTR Magnaflow exhaust (buh-bye Corsas)
- Redid XPel protective film on front
- 5% Tint all around

I activated her on March 11th of this year, and deactivated her on November 6th, today.

I put a total of 2022 miles on her, and she drank 132.16 gallons of Premium 91 gasoline.

The farthest I drove her in one trip was 61 miles. I wasn't able to make it to Des Moines for any car shows this year I did attend 7 car shows this year...wish I could have done more.

I buffed her 2x this year, both with a very light gray pad and final polish. I hose/bucket washed her a total of 6 times only, the rest were a combination of detail sprays and ONR waterless washes. In between all that, I used a variety of Sealants, Carnaubas, and Spray combos to keep her paint glistening and wet.

No tickets and no pull-overs this year, thank goodness. Then again, I never do.

Drove her like a grandma at times, but drove her spirited at times too. I filled my ears with her riveting crescendo many a time. Her accoustic rendition is absolute perfection.

I counted approximately 324 smiles, 85 finger points, and 27 thumbs-ups from folks aged 4 to 84 (kidding on the counts - but there were quite a few). I counted 2 handfuls of unhappy drivers of Camaros, imports, and even a Jaguar and Porsche owner this year... they thought I was driving "just" a Mustang. Yes, Marilyn not only filled me and other folks with joy, but also frustrated many other drivers

All in all, not bad for a 5+ year old car.

And to that I say, good year and good night. See you all in Spring 2017!!! I hope to give Marilyn a new stable by May...

Here's a quick video I made to summarize the year. Watch it in 1080P!!!

Looks great! I should post some photos of my 2011 GT later today. It's definitely not as hot as yours.

no way! I trust this car with my life on the track. No way I let road salt chew away at it. That's why I have a winter beater.

Thanks guys... appreciate it. Yeah, the weather here is actually still pretty decent - mid 50's to highs of low 60's. But at that temp, Marilyn is no fun to drive around as much. Besides my windows having to be mostly up (can't hear her symphony as well with windows up), my drag radials are pretty much useless in that weather. And what fun is it driving that type of high hp car driving like a grandma?

Lastly, before putting her away, I always detail her one last time. That is not fun doing when it's cold out

So I called it quits while I still could. 4 to 5 months of boredom, here we come

So long Marilyn. It's been a great and quick year.

Great video Burton. Love the opening, but not so much the ending/closing. (No pun intended. lol)

Nice car! Couple question.

Do you jack up vehicles and get tires off ground or just let it sit in the garage as is?

I was planning on putting mine on jack stands, battery tender, car cover and fuel stabilizer. My garage is attached to my house, but isn't heated.

This will be my first winter storing a vehicle that's why I ask...

Thanks man! I recall storing her in early October last year, and some years ago. This year I tried to hang on a tad longer.

Thanks Tony! I thought ZZ Top would be a good start. Why not so much the ending? Bad music choice? I know I hate the ending because that means no more driving her

Thanks Scott. For storage I don't put her on stands because I don't want the strain on the suspension. I just leave her parked on the garage floor, then about once a month, I jack her up each side and roll the tires over to a new spot. Prevents flatness. And remember, don't start her up. That's what stabil is for. Don't start her up and introduce condensation in the system. Just leave her off and leave her dry. I attach a trickle charger every couple weeks.

You could probably save yourself a lot of time and effort by just putting the car in neutral and rolling it forward or backwards about a foot. It's pretty easy to roll these cars if you grab on to the tires and push or pull. No touching the paintwork and it's a better leverage point. Most garages should be long enough to do this unless you have a bunch of stuff against the wall up front. I've been doing this to mine every winter and I never get flat spots. It's so quick and easy, that I do it 1-2 times a week.

You're definitely not driving it the "right way" if you're getting over 15 mpg out of a blown Coyote, lol ...

Oh god no - that's from a a couple years ago. It's still above 60 every day around here now - unseasonably warm!

You know what's crazy - I was re-reading my post, and literally thought someone like Gabe would point out my "good" mileage and mention my inability to drive the car like she was intended to be. Then I saw your reply. hahaha... great minds think alike, Gabe.

You're right though - I've been eeking out WAYYYYY too many miles per gallon

My Coyote will breath the cool snow-less Winter air in Southern Alabama.

If that's the case, I sometimes get 0 miles per gallon - I'm happy just staring at her in the garage sometimes

I envy you! Kyle's pic above is a regular vision that we see here in Iowa... unfortunately. Only a matter of time now.
