Exhaust sound terrible change

Hi all, my exhaust sounds extremely different now (Flowmaster Outlaw catback)!! It sounds raspier and uglier than before. The cracking/popping sound after letting of the throttle is completely gone, it just sounds like a drone through the rpm. It was a night and day change, one day it was perfect like always and the next day this all happened.

Ive had my exhaust for barely 9,300 miles and my car has 19,500 miles.

What could be the reason behind that?

Have you checked to make sure nothing has come loose causing a leak which would result in less sound traveling through your muffs.

They are supposed to sound better after break in.

That said, I'd refit all connections like CS said.

Undo the clamps and re tighten. Also, make sure you have "weep holes" in the mufflers. Nothing will ruin the sound of a muffler like being filled with water.

I did check the bolts, they seemed tight and nothing was loose. Maybe the pipes moved apart a bit (where they connect) from speed bumps or something? How can I check if there is a leak and where?

So you recommend I unloosen everything and then put them back together?

Yes. Or just re tighten.
Betting money you have an exhaust leak in your clamps. No biggie and an easy fix.

Is there a way to check for any leaks before I start unbolting things?

jack the car up, use jack stands and wheel chucks then start her up and get under the car.

use your hand around the joints and see if there is any air being pushed out.

Not the ideal way but its what i would do.

Thanks for the tip, Ill do that probably this week. What if I couldnt feel any air being pushed out, any other reasons why this could happen to my exhaust ?

Do you have weep holes in the mufflers and tips?

Yes there should be one tiny hole in each muffler to drain water out.

A 1/16" hole at the low point of the can should be sufficient.

Did you look inside to see if somebody stuffed your pipes?

How would the muffler be filled with water? First there is the exhaust tip and second wont it just evaporate and go outside the exhaust tip?

I did look inside and found something that looked odd. I posted some pics but I dont know how well you can see it. Basically down the muffler where it curves I saw something might be blocking or just there for some reason. It looked like some sort of mesh (or maybe it seemed mesh like from the light ) but I am sure there is something in both mufflers. Should I try poking it and see what happens?
