Emissions Test & Catalyic Converters
Hi Guys,
I was wondering if you could help me out. I was thinking of getting the Long Tube Headers and Shorty offroad X Pipe with the Roush axelback exhaust from AM.
However, where i live (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) we have to pass an emissions test every year.
My question is, does anyone know how many Cats are on the 2012 Mustang V6 stock? and in order to pass the emissions test, should i just get the Catted shorty x pipe instead of the offroad x pipe?
i was under the assumption that stock there were 2 cats by the headers and 2 more in the stock midpipe. so since the longtube headers removes the 2 cats up by the engine... are the only ones left in the midpipe?

There are only two cats, directly under the exhaust manifold outlets.
In the U.S. it is illegal to change the location of the cats so any long tube combo is technically not legal here for street use, don't know about Canada.

Hey Ltngdrvr,
Thanks for that info.... this whole time i thought there were 4 cats on the car. So i guess since by getting the longtube headers and x pipe it moves the cats from the manifold outlets to the midpipe area (assuming i get the catted x pipe).
thanks for the info.
i will need to figure out if this will pass emissions
