'03 Cobra styling > '05-'09 styling except GT500 and Saleen Dark Horse IMO

Regardless, want some hip curve? OK. Want to add some cartoon eyes (front & rear) since that's the Cars Movie trend? OK. Want to (allegedly) make the hood more muscular? OK (but no twink for me).

So why add this black blotation to the bottom of the rear end that looks like a last minute add on from another car/planet???

I've mentioned before (as if anyone cares ) that the 'black blotation' looks worse with some colors. Black in particular, IMO. Just enough difference in the color that it shows up, but not enough to be distinctive... so it looks like an afterthought. I think it goes much better with the reds, and actually looks altogether 'good' with the white.

Your Black 5.0 is gorgeous- love those rims on it too!

Nothing like a black Mustang- it just looks so good.

For me, this fixes the rear. (minus the spoiler)

Ok, fine. I'm with cdynaco on this one. If you want those things..the hip curve, cartoon eyes..buy a Camaro. They'll throw the caliper weights in for free. It even comes in "Bumble Bee Yellow"

While I like the top portion of the 2010+, the diaper is the weak point. It just needs more definition, a la GT500 or Steeda rear valence. That minor tweak takes care of it for me. Even the 05-09 with that looked so much better IMO than those without (with the exception being the Bullitt).

As a former 05 owner and future 2011, I don't see the big deal. I like both cars but the 2010 represented at least to me, an evolution of the return to retro.
I still think the new power dome hood is lame but the rear works fine. I'm a little confused, do some really think the 2010 style is cartoonish like a Camaro? That makes no sense to me.

Camaros look so cartoonish it's ridiculous. I don't know how any male over 18 can look at it and think "hey, that's an awesome car".

The '05-'09 rear was ugly and boring. It looked okay to me, until the '10 was released. Don't like the "diaper" in the rear? Change it with a GT500 or Stillen and problem solved.

I like the new front ends better than I do the rear but the panel in the back makes it alot better.

To the OP Keep yours, and buy a new 5.0 (or even slightly used one) when everything's free and clear. I'm done with trade ins wife used to do it every other year. Now she's got a vehicle that after 3 years of paying on is still 7k upside down even with a 3% interest rate. Let someone else take the depreciation hit driving off the lot. I did it with the GTO and I'll do it again when it's paid for.

Yes beauty and looks are subjective, and many of us are using the 05-09 as a base comparision to the 10-11, and there is nothing wrong with that....I am also one who thinks that (f)ugly diaper and sloped rear end of the 10-11's make the car look only 3/4 more evolutionary....the rest of the car from any angle looks great...but that diaper and pinched off rear end has what in common with Mustang styling heritage ?? VERY LITTLE ! Ford styling designers poo-pooed the back end badly this time 'round....I hope they learn their lesson for the next design in a few years.....and BTW can anyone explain "why" Ford went with this "diaper and pinched off" back end ???

Im pretty sure just to give the car the illusion of being smaller. I think everyone *****ed about wanting the car smaller so instead of making the car smaller they just gave it some cues to make it seem like it was ala the black plastic and pinched corners.

Hmm well this went far ! Well I will be keeping my car. I have done to much work to get it were its at, and in truth only a GT500 would make me happy. That or a fully modded 2010, or a 5.0 even. At that point I am back to where I am now, just 2 years advanced. A GT500 would be nice to say I have one, but my car does all a GT500 can do now. Sans the whole forged internals part. Even so, I would still lose my "look" which is what stands me apart from other stangs IMO. Also like it has been said, I would then get upside down in any trade in scenarios, and I know for a fact they would have sold my car off in less than a week easily. (They sell to the S. American market as well, and I know a lot of Stangs end up there...)

As for the whole diaper debate, with some colours the back is fine. On others, it needs some help. That is why if I was buying, Grabber blue would be the colour

IMO, the non-metallic colors hide the weird creases on the rear end best. White, GB, Torch/Race Red and Black don't have that bulbous look as much because the metallic flakes draw the light to those curves. In person, the rear end looks much better than pics, but it really is the only part of the car that makes it imperfect to me. But to be honest, I always thought the 67-68 non-Shelby rear end looked a little funky too. If I was to own a 67-68, it would have to be a Shelby, or at least have a Shelby conversion. So now, I'll either be in the market for a used 11 GT500 or used Saleen (not SMS) in a few years.
