Door Alignment--Adjustment

Hello all.

I'm new to Mustangs (as of two weeks ago)--and have really been enjoying reading this and other forums. It is quite an education.

Proud new owner of 2011 GT (Black) Premium, Brembo, 6MT. Washing my car and admiring my handywork today, I noticed that where the doors meet the front fenders--there is noticeable misalignment, with the door being inset a bit from the fender. Where the doors meet the rear fenders is perfect.

Question: Is it possible to adjust the alignment of the doors to perfect the fit?

I'm quite impressed with the fit and finish of this Ford overall (having come from a 2001 Nissan Altima and '04 and '08 Infiniti G35's). If this one issue were fine-tuned, the car would be virtually perfect.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

It's surprising to read that you got a vehicle with a door mis-alignment. Having the door tipped in at the upper hinge is not typical though. The plant may have had to re-fit your door for some reason and didn't exactly get it back on flush. Typically it should not be under-flush more than 2mm. If it really bothers you take it into the dealer and have them re-fit your door. Make sure they test for water leaks along the header where the glass meets the body after the re-fit though.

I had the same problem, I had my body man (while he was painting the hood) readjust it. A very ugly and noticeable cosmetic problem in my eyes, although no one else ever noticed it!
