Difficult to install CS Front Fascia and Rear Diffuser?

I really would like to get the CS front fascia (w/o foglights) and the GT500 rear diffuser, and was orignially thinking of having the dealership install the items. One dealer has it's own body shop, but the reputation is less than desirable and really don't want to get my new car ruined by them. Called another dealer to find out about install in-house and was put on hold for 0 minutes, until I finally decided that they really don't deserve my business.

So I was wondering how difficult it is to install each item myself. I know there are several members here which have done the mod, but would like to know if you did the mods yourself or had it installed.

How involved is the front fascia install? I'm not a mechanic and really don't have any specialty tools to complete tasks like this... so do you have to take off the entire front bumper assembly? How about the rear?

Thanks for any help...

The Roush Instructions for their rear valance seems to be pretty insightful.

This is easy.

Go to sears.

Buy a $150-200 tool set, floor jack and jack stands.

Never take your car in for install again.

Very simple install for the valance. The bumper does come off, but again it's very simple. Few bolts, pops right out.

I used the Roush instructions for my GT500 rear and they are very easy to follow. I had no issues, and doing it myself took me about 2 hours. You could cut that time in half with an extra body.

For the front, LRS has a great how-to in their blog for the front fascia. I recently used it to remove my front bumper, which took about 15 minutes total. Again, a second set of hands is a welcome addition, but it requires basic tools and very little guess work.

This. The front fascia is very easy to install. You're forgoing the part that gave me the most fits -- wiring in the foglights!

You need a metric set of sockets or wrenches, flat screwdriver, and that's about it. I think the bolts are 7 and 8mm on the front bumper.

Roush's front bumper cover installation instructions seem pretty good too. I also used the Roush manual when I installed my GT500 rear valence.

Yup I agree with the others. I just did the Roush front bumper cover on mine. The Roush instructions tell you step by step how to remove the OEM fascia. Once you snap the new one on you'll just reverse the steps from the removal to secure the new bumper in place.

When you pull the OEM fascia off it takes quite the tug. You'll wonder if its okay but if you've removed all the bolts and push pins the last thing you need to do is pull the cover off. It will make a big cracking sound but you aren't hurting anything.

A few tips: you don't need the push pin removal tool. I removed most with my fingers or a flathead screwdriver. Also, careful with pulling the grille off your old bumper. The rubber parts that attach the grille to the bumper appear to want to break easily.

I'm not a mechanic either and it was easy. Plus its cool to do this yourself.

Installed the rear myself and for the most part very easy. Had a little difficulty getting the 4 center tabs (under the license plate) to release rest was a breeze. I used the Roush instructions which were great although they don't mention the 2 extra support tabs right by the mufflers.

The purchase of a forked pin extractor is valuable too.

I also used a large piece of old carpet on the garage floor to work on so I didn't get any scratches.

As they say, so easy even a caveman can do it

Anyone know where I can find the 2, "Retainer - W-Clip Push Pin W9X14" that are being asked for?

Are these only necessary for the Roush Valence? Or will it be needed for the GT500/CS Rear Diffuser as well (what I have)?

You'll need them as well. They secure the center of the diffuser to the lower portion of the frame IIRC.

Couldn't tell ya. Have you played around on fordparts.com? You might be able to identify them on there.

I went to the local Napa store and bought them, I do believe they were Just 3/8 push pins.
