I recently purchased a 2011 v6 auto with 3.31s and MCA package black/black for 29k OTD without realizing the kind of deals that could be had on the 2010 gt... for that price do you think I could have gotten a 2010 gt premium with auto trans?

At this point, it is obviously too late to change my mind (and i still love my v6) but I was just wondering if you guys think I made the right choice, or if I was dumb and should have got the 2010 gt. It is my daily driver.. I don't race or anything but i feel like i might have enjoyed the sound of the v8 and the torque. If only it were as simple as swapping it out for a 2010gt-- but I know that is not the case.

 

To answer your question, yes you could have got a GT for that price. But don't doubt your decision. Either car is great, they offer very similar performance and your V6 will get far superior gas mileage. The 2011 V6 Mustang is badass, it's not just the 5.0. I got my car in June of 09' and I had no idea the 5.0 was coming out. Now that it's out I can say I should have waited, but I still love my 2010. It's fast, drives beautifully, and puts a smile on my face and that's what's important. I've had my car a year and I still love it more and more. The 2011 V6 is a first because you now have an economical Mustang that can still embarrass more than half the cars on the street (performance and ergonomics). You have a great car!

 

I think you made the right choice. The 2011 V6 has about as much "street cred" as a 2010 GT and it really is one hot V6...and in the next couple of years, you'll probably really start to appreciate that gas mileage.

 

The HP is pretty close to being equal. However, the gas mileage is much better with the 2011 V6.

 

actually the v8 is faster too. Gas mileage is almost the same. I get high 2's mpg on the highway all the time. I would have went with the GT. No question. Besides the sound of the v8 vs. the 6? Whole nother universe.

 

I personally would not go with a V-6 Mustang unless it was a forced induction special edition. The horsepower is compareable, but it will always be just a V-6 Mustang. The powertrain is amazing, don't get me wrong but another year or two and it won't be all that novel.

That being said, I'm sure you had a reason for buying the V-6 over the GT. Take care of the car and enjoy it. The massive jump in HP for 2011 will ensure some good times for you, and I honestly like the exhaust sound on the new 6's as well.

You got a great car so don't torture yourself, just enjoy it!

I made the opposite decision so I have the opposite trade-offs, so every time I start thinking about gas mileage or cool HID headlights I just fire that puppy up and listen to the V8 rumble . . . so if you start second-guessing yourself, just take a look at your MPG read-out.

 

Too late to worry about it now. I love my V-6 and getting the same gas mileage i got in my 150 horsepower 4 cylinder i traded in.

I won't bash other Mustangs.

I've owned a V6 Mustang long ago. Heck, I even owned a 4 cylinder Mustang (what was I thinking!?). However, once I went to a V8, I never went back (4 now and counting). The V8 sounds sweet and the torque is intoxicating. That said, the '11 V6 is finally a non-V8 worthy of consideration. The nimble handling, the good fuel economy, and good acceleration add up to a great car. The only other non-V8 Mustang that was this cool was the 84-86 SVO.

 

You did well, now enjoy that awesome ride!

 

As a daily driver, you picked the right car. If you wanted a weekend cruiser or a car to race, the 2010 GT would of been the correct car to buy.

If you get bored with your V6, you can always upgrade. But, I suggest waiting until there are some good deals.

 

A V6 Mustang was my first pony back in 1998. That was a completely different nag compared to the 2011 V6. I would have taken the 2010 GT, but the gas mileage is incredible in your V6. Enjoy it!

 

0% for 60 months on a '10 GT probably would have sold me. But you really can't go wrong with the '11 V6 either. The fit and finish is a little bit better over the '10.

 

how do you figure? Its the exact same car except for the engine. Do you think all of a sudden the factory decided to do a better job at assembling them??? no. Same machines, same employees, same fit and finish

 

I can't wait to see what the aftermarket can do with this hot new V-6... I suspect it will be on par with what we saw from the 4.6L 3v motor for peak horse power...

Yes, I'm as big of a sucker for the V8 Rumble as any of you guys but the shril scream of a hard tuned V6 can be impressive as well.

That's the main reason I chose the V6...I wouldn't have been able to get the car I wanted in a 2010 GT...plus the V6 is lighter, handles better, has a 6 speed transmission and with the 3.31's, the 10 GT is not faster by any means, and I would be willing to bet that with the 3.31's, and the different gearing, the V6 would probably be equal off the line and overall faster car. The one video I've seen with just the standard 2.73's has the GT beating the V6 by about one car off the line and by the end of the quarter mile, the V6 is pulling harder and catching up due to the different gearing.

Throw some 3.73's on there and that V6 won't be beat off the line I bet.

 

V6 is as impressive as the GT IMHO.. Have you seen them on a road course yet? Guarantee you they will embareass alot of the supposedly more capable track cars. The V6 on a road course just plain rips. Enjoy it, don't start doubting your decision.
