Decision on "new" 2013

Hi, long time reader... First time poster here.

My dealer is working on finding me a 2013 mustang vi 6 premi (um w/ performance package. They can only find one car w/ my specifications within 600 miles. This particular car has everything I want pluss the comfort package, security package and the cheaper appearance package (spoiler and stripe, I think). The only issue is... It's a demo car with 4600 miles on it! Meaning, the summer tires / breaks already have 5k miles of wear.

This obviously makes me a bit paranoid... my question is... Is there a major cause for concern over this? They are wanting 26900 for it - two dealers gave me the same price. Truecar has it around 27900 (new).

Is this a big enough risk to just go base instead... Or does that seem like an ok deal. Very interested in your opinions.

Get it but you should get it for $25000ish not a $1k discount for a demo car...

You could find a nice low mileage 5.0 for that money. 6 months ago a guy down the street from me sold a 2011 GT premium with Brembos, Tri-blaze yellow, lots of options, and 11,000 miles for $26.5k. The car was cleaner than new - gorgeous.

I got my GT with 4 miles on it for $28,900 out the door. Granted, no premium model but still... You're not getting a good deal at all. There's guys on here that have got new GTs cheaper than what you're getting your v6. Keep shopping

Likely pulling the trigger at 26500. I looked up the vin and did some research and found out where the actual vehicle was located so i was able to cut out the local dealers trying to make a buck. Said the GM drove the car for awhile while he was in town.

It's Sterling Grey, w/ the performance package, all the stuff mentioned in the OP. KBB had 2012's going for 26k at 4600 miles. Not to mention truecar says i'm getting roughly 2000 under invoice w/ all the options.

Can't wait for my 3 hour drive home from the dealer

Personally I would avoid a dealer demo vehicle. If you saw how I was driving the demo vehicle at the dealership before I placed my order, you would think twice.

^^^ to the millionth power...

Even something with a couple hundred miles on it has been severely abused.

I personally know people who have treated these worse than rentals - I'm talking about incessant powershifting at redline while only having the vehicles for a few days while having warranty work performed.

One acquaintance commented, "It only had 100 miles on it when they loaned it to me and I almost had to buy it from them afterwards out of guilt for how badly I beat that thing up."

Another acquaintance hasn't owned a vehicle for years since this person's father owns car dealerships and gets to enjoy demos for the first several hundred miles. And even though all the abuse isn't self-inflicted, friends are often provided the opportunity - especially for any models that are remotely performance-oriented...like a Mustang.

And your vehicle has enough miles on it to have taken quite a bit of abuse.

Oh, and every demo in the history of the automobile has been driven by the GM/owner/owner's mother/etc. who is an older person with immense respect for the vehicle only driving from point A to point B and would never do anything to damage his own inventory - B$.

I wish I could be happy for you, but if you are anything like me and are going to revere your purchase, well...find one that can wear white for the ceremony.

You should be able to order a new '14 V6 Premium w/perf pkg for about the same money on Xplan pricing. Zero miles/abuse and exactly how you want it. Walk away, this deal isn't that great IMHO.

Way overpriced. Look at the 14's and sleep easy knowing that your buttocks were the ones that imprinted the drivers seat and not God knows who.

Nuff said.

Order yourself a '14 PP Mustang instead

V6 PP Mustang, base or premium. These are 2013 Xplan prices but the '14's should be all that much different. I added the Recaros to the base model to keep the prices about the same. Added the over the top stripe on the premium cause it looks great. You are getting porked at this price for a *USED* car. You get to decide the options you want, but have to wait 6-8 weeks to get it. Your call.
