Thanks for the info! It looks like a 2011 GT Premium might be doable after all!

Yeah, it's not easy. Like I said, 49 out of 50 dealer would just laugh. Mustangs sell and dealers know it.

BTW... I had to email 30+ dealers for 2% over invoice back in 2004, most rejected, some said no to early allocation but possible after Feb '05. I finally just walked into a small Ford dealer that mainly sold Explorers and said I will make a $500 deposit on a 2% over invoice deal on a '05 GT. The salesman agreed. My GT was their 3rd Mustang order (2nd GT allocation); they made changes to their stock order to my specifications. (This was a week or two after the '05 order banks opened)[/quote]

Wait and see

Really easy guys . . .. . if at launch, you go to a dealer and there are NO 2011 GTs in the lot, then you probably will not be paying invoice/x-plan/etc . . . .. you will pay what the dealer wants (RECALL 2005 with the GT mustangs) . . .. . .. but if Ford is advertising rebates, and the average dealer has 10 GTs sitting on the lot . .. . . .then you will be able to pay around invoice (or your X-plan price) . . .. . . nobody knows at this point , , ,, , lets wait and see.

You haven't tried hard enough. I easily got $100 below invoice with very little effort. Which is about 5% over dealer cost.

They don't sell anywhere near what you are thinking in the current economy! 2009 was the worst year for car sales in the history of the car! 60,096 sales through Nov. 2009. The only year that is close is 79,280 from 1991!

Huh? Are you referring to Explorer or Mustang sales? If Mustang, you can thank the Camaro for that... With the 5.0 coming out, expect Camaro sales to be cut in half, Ford will see sales of '11 Mustangs somewhere between 2006 & 2005 numbers. Besides, 2011 MY is a bit extended compared to other MYs which will also hurt 2010 MY sales... the redesign for 2010 hurt 2009 MY sales in the 1st QTR of '09.

THIS ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN!!! The market is different than back in the fall of 2004, when the 2005s came out!! I have already take a deposit from a close friend who wants to order the 1st 2011 when he is able to. He works for Xerox and is getting X-Plan from his company and I'm taking it. We have Merck 10 minutes from us, and X-Plan is a way of life for us here in SE Pa. ADMs are a thing of the past!!

I paid 2% over invoice on my '05 GT preium w/ 5spd man., spoiler, mycolor, anti-theft in Nov '04 (ordered in July '04) -other dealers wanted $2k-$5k over MSRP.

Had a deal negotiated on a 2010 GT500 for invoice back in March... still kicking myself for not taking delivery...

Right now I'm working on 1% over invoice on a '11 GT.

Hey Kahdir, I sent you a PM. If your not getting a good reception from your local dealer on your offer, I'll do it. I'm in PA, I just don't know where in PA your from. Shoot me a PM back or give me a call. I'll be happy to take 1% over invoice. This works out to around $300 or so over invoice. Let me know.

I hope the guys here recognize your efforts to help, save them money, and realize their dreams. It is refreshing to see someone related to sales taking the approach to help the membership rather nail them to the wall as we saw from many so called 'enthusiasts' back in '04 for the '05 GT and in '06 for the '07 GT500.

It will be worth driving a few extra miles to reward you for the effort and give you the business.

Hey George, thanks for the kind words! You've been here a while and you know I'm here to help the masses, as I've been signed up on here longer than I've owned my car. I love this site!!!

Hey bud, Pittsburgh isn't too far from me. If you want, order the car here, drive out with a friend (or fly into Allentown Leigh Valley if its cheap), I'll pick you up in my GT, sign the papers, and you drive home in your new 2011!!! Would be one fun road-trip back home!!!

My last purchase was a bit over 1,000 miles. It took me two days full of fun to drive home. I can't wait to do it again.

The invoice price varies depending on what optional equipment is included. And, Ford will likely narrow the gap between invoice & MSRP some more for 2011, as they've been doing slowly over the past few years.

That said, here's the base invoice total and base MSRP for a 2010 Premium GT to give you an example (please note that Ford raised the price of 2010's starting Jan 01, 2010, so these figures may look higher than any previous amounts others may have noted elsewhere)....

$32,245 = MSRP
$30,324 = Invoice Total

So, in this example, there's a $1,921 difference between the invoice total and MSRP. Add a few popular options, like the 3.73 axle pkg, comfort pkg, 19" wheels, and rear view camera, and it changes to....

$34,815 = MSRP
$32,561 = Invoice Total

This raises the difference to $2,254.

I suspect that Ford will try hard to keep MSRP on the '11's really close to the '10's, but they'll raise the invoice total, thus passing on the increased cost mostly to the dealers.

We sell stuff for 1% over invoice or less all the time. It's the going rate and easy to get if you take your time and search/negotiate a little.
