Daylight Saving Time
Daylight Saving Time
Is the electronics package/nav unable to correct time for the change back to standard time? It gets time from the satellite and has an option to automatically adjust for time zone when driving east-west but it didn't change the time this weekend. Am I missing something?

Nor did mine, I just changed it manually. Weird. Maybe it keeps time internally. I mean Time Zones aren't likely to change any time soon, so just a set of GPS coordinates would be enough, but DST is subject to laws of different countries and we did change it in the US fairly recently. Maybe they decided a lot of people won't be driving it in non-summer time anyway. :P But whatever the reason I guess they decided not to include DST support. I guess if it doesn't pull it off a server it saves us the trouble of having to install an update to fix DST, or adjusting the clock twice as much if the span of DST changes.
No matter, it was pretty easy to change anyway.

I found this in the nav manual:
Auto time zone: If enabled, the system will automatically adjust the
time when you enter into a new time zone. If disabled, you will have to
manually adjust the time when entering different time zones. Note: The
system does not implement daylight savings time.

So it appears that they didn't even try to handle DST. My cell phone adjusted automatically... why couldn't the Sync system use that as a guide?
Your cell phone probably wouldn't give your car the time of day.
No, seriously, I'm not sure that's one of the features implemented in any bluetooth setup, telling other things what time it is. I don't think any phone grants complete control via Bluetooth, they have to go through a defined standardized interface.

I thought when the phone synced with the car, the time would reset. It doesn't, i had to set it myself. Just took a second on the nav. screen.
I was disappointed that my electronics package didn’t adjust to the daylight savings time change by itself. With the GPS it knows exactly where and when it is while out in the open. I purchased a VCR about 15 years ago that automatically pulls the time out of the air so that the clock was always set properly. No more flashing 12:00 every time the power goes out. Now I haven’t used or even had it hooked up for the past ten years, but what I am getting at is that even the standard radio in the car could and should always report the proper time with out needing to set it.
Actually it pulls the time from your cable signal.
Arizona earned some major bonus points with me, ever since AZ decided to implement their own Immigration Law! Gladly support AZ businesses whenever I can!
BTW... Mine didn't change either and had to do it manually

You should try and change the clock in my wife's 2009 VW Passat Wagon. It has two clocks(?) one in the instrument cluster and the other on the radio face. Neither is sych'd, so you have to change both of them. And, yes you need the owners manual. Engineers, tha bain of sane people
