Dash Panel Trim Piece?

I noticed the dash panel to the right and left of the steering column kinda looks unfinished with sharp edges. Mine is worse on the right side. I am wondering if there is a trim piece missing or if that's how it was built? Any thoughts?

Yet another work of art, I'd say get a new pair of axle backs and keep your mind off of these little things or you will go insane.

That is sloppy. Mine is crisp and straight... And a v6 at that. Someone was lazy.

Get an no. 4 blade exacto knife and carefully tape up and trim that excess.

Second thought. I would just leave it alone.

Yes, please do. My 2011 is like the others; I too thought that maybe a black snap on trim piece was supposed to go around the steering column, but now knowing others have this same thing, I'm not concerned.

Never noticed this. I have a 2013 GT and it looks like someone cut those edges by hand using a hack saw. Oh well, another thing on my list of things I have to ignore about this car!

If it makes anybody feel any better, it's not just the Mustangs. We have a '13 Escape and the interior is quite nice to look at... until you notice that all the dash molding and stack have ragged edges. I guess from crappy molds or something. My new Challenger isn't much better. Lots of 'fuzz' on the door panel pockets.

Here's to hoping none of those jiggity cut panels become unexpectedly exposed in a collision of some sort

Now that you made us all consious about it, I noticed the silver paint trim around the outer tach and speedo guage ring stop even with the "jiggity cut" panels, by about a quarter inch, rather than to the end of the ring. This tells me the panel cut was planned, and the plastic silver ring mates with it.

This is why your car is the price point it is instead of twice that...
