Daily Driver Suspension question
Daily Driver Suspension question
As the title states I have a 2013 GT that is my DD I was thinking about getting the SVE performance package from latemodel resto, it includes lower control arms, springs to lower 1.5inches, camber bolts and a pan hard bar for 489 witch is about my price range.
My question is that is this a good kit? Or can anyone put me in the direction of a better one for the same price?? Thanks!

I would go a different route.
Better shocks (Koni's are on sale), lowering springs, GT500 strut mounts, pan hard bar. Hit up any of the different vendors on this site. I'm sure they can put something good together.
If you still have budget, control arms.

You mention that this is your daily driver. I'm guessing that the day to day handling, is what you want to improve. It's not your 1/4 mile that you're looking to improve. That's why I would start with shocks and springs, and NOT with lower control arms.
Don't get me wrong, they sure can need some improvement (wheel hop).
I got the impression from your initial post, that you have a certain budget in mind.
Look for the older model shocks. You can use them with the GT500 strut mounts. This is a much less expensive route, compared to using camber plates. The difference between the two types of shocks ('05-'10 vs '10-'14) is the length of the thread. Nothing functional!
I'm not a fan of using camber bolts, but there are people who use them without issues. If you do choose to use camber bolts, you can use the '10-'14 type of shocks, and you want to reuse the existing strut mounts. The problem with the existing strut mounts is that, when you take the strut assembly apart, they often break, people lose the ball bearings etc. the GT500 strut mounts are much beefier and cost about a third of good camber plates (and not to mention: safe compared to camber bolts). The GT500 strut mounts work with a moderate drop. If you want to lower the car more than 1.5" I think you want to go with camber plates (but again... budget).
If you lower the car, you'll notice that the rear axle is not aligned anymore. To compensate you need to use an adjustable pan hard bar.
Do some more research, there are different brands out there, at different price points.

just to name a few. Remember if you go the route of GT500 strut mounts, use the older style shocks.

^ exactly what he said! I just ordered my koni yellows... I already had Gt500 mounts but found out that my struts were not compatible. I did suspension work with 1.5" drop, koni adju, panhard bar, GT 500 mounts and is still under $1k
to clarify to atrav83, his struts did not work with the GT500 mounts, because he wasn't using '05-'10 struts, but the ones that came with his '13!
What was the reason you chose the yellows, instead of the Orange Koni's, as you were trying to reuse the factory shocks to begin with?
Well I figured since I will have to upgrade the factory eventually down the line, and I want to use of my gt500 mounts so it was no brainier. Plus the factory mount broke on the passenger side end...
( the one where I did not use spring compressor)
Anyhow I wanted to get adjustability and for the price I got them I couldn't pass the deal even if I don't put them on for a while...
Lol but knowing my self, it's like a new toy in a box... So I might do the job again
The ride is good on factory but I got 28000 so...

While recommended you do not have to do shocks/struts with springs. My car came from the dealer with Steeda sport springs, steeda HD strut mounts, steeda panhard bar and brace, and stock track pack shocks. Been running it like that for the last year almost. Car feels great. No brake dive or floaty feeling. Just ordered koni yellows to finish it off. Much to my surprise the car also came with the Steeda HD strut mounts. Dealer never listed it as being on the car.

Funny how that stuff works, sometimes.
Best Regards,

Definitely a good deal TJ. Can't wait to get the konis in. Always been a big fan of Steeda parts. Just found my Steeda receipt from 5/3/1995 for my 91 LX5.0. Was for 3:55 gears, pulleys, subframe connectors, and G-Trac kit. Man I miss that car.

With all of the potholes and tough to get in/out of driveways and speed bumps around here, I sometimes have a hard enough time with the stock height. I just can't imagine the hassle it would be to lower it even more and my car does not feel floaty up to 140 mph. It feels tight and planted all the way up the range.
