Engine cleaner

Has anyone used Seafoam or another sort of engine cleaner on the new 5.0? I thought I read Ford advised against this for some reason but not sure why. Reason for asking is I have had about 30k miles so far of moderate to hard driving with the stock PCV system, soon to be gone. I would like to clean out the motor of the excess oil that has been slowly being burnt before doing away with the PCV.

Are you talking about using it in the crankcase to flush it out?

Only thing Ford says is to not use fuel additives, they aren't needed if you use good gas.

I've seen plenty of people use it on pre-2005 mustangs on youtube, but would never try to do it myself. I rather pay the dealer to do the carbon/fuel injection cleaning.

This is basically what I am talking about. I will pull the intake and clean the runners and heads. More trying to clean out the combustion chambers.

So I can see this turning into another oil debate. I just want to know if it is safe to use and if someone has used it on a new 5.0 with disastrous results then pipe up.

I really wish people would read the first post and either say Yes or No or here is an alternative that has something to do with what I am talking about. Instead of saying, I know your talking about cleaning the combustion chambers, but have you tried this thing that has nothing to do with that.

Seafoam is good **** but the motor needs to have some good miles be older for it do anything I've been using the stuff for years and if u change ur oil and use good gas and get on the motor every now and again it won't do much.

That is what I had also wondered, if carbon has even built up since I do get on it hard from time to time.

I still have to wait a while till I get my breather setup since the guy who makes them buy the parts in bulk when they are the cheapest. I will I will Seafoam the engine but after that just take it to the track every few weeks and do a few passes to work off the carbon.

White smoke is carbon shooting out ur exhaust? Really? Maybe it's the Seafoam.

It almost looks like a blown head gasket, yes, but it is burning off the carbon that get's caked into the cylinder walls.

yes sir be aware that on older cars it can through a code for warm up i know its dumb just unplug the battery and it will be fine. and if u go through the brake booster when ur add the seafoam to the engine it can thought a code because u have a vacum line unplugged same as before unplug the battery and lets it sit for half an hour and lol smoke show and like i said depending on what condition the engine is in dirty or clean will go buy how much smoke it ejected my bro once again with the ranger doesnt result in alot of smoke mainly because its beat to ****
