Cue ball shifter?
This may not be the place and I may get my jarring for asking but originally the 2010's had an option, on the Ford website when building the car, to build the car with the aluminum cue ball shift ****. I no longer see this option with the 2011 but I see it in many of the press released cars.
The review from Cars.com noted that the car he was testing has the aluminum shifter because it's the premium but last time I checked, just because the car is a premium, doesn't mean it comes with the ball shifter.
I really want the aluminum cue ball as I don't think the leather wrapped **** suits the car, and I love the nostalgic look of the ball.
Anyone know any information about getting this? I will assume the answer could be said - through Ford's parts department - but I want it WITH the car when I get the car.
Thanks in advance!

You have to get the updated trim rapid spec as well as the Premium. It's basically a premium interior premium. A GT will have it on GT Premium Rapid Spec 401A. Keep in mind, this changes a lot more than just the shifter ***. The leather will be different, and the colors of the console. Should have slightly more metal though.

If you don't know what it will look like load up Ford's Build Your Own 2011 Mustang. It has all the options and it will show you how it will look with your selected options on the interior as well as the exterior.

Hmm? I ordered an 11 GT. If you look at the mustang order guide (stickyed I think) it mentions what shifter comes with what trim level. No matter what, I'm sure you can add the aluminum ball one if you want to. Personally, I like this one better. I have also seen this same one in a 2010 Premium GT.

I think some people are confused between Premium and Premier. The Premium package is available in V6 or GT, and while it has many wonderful interior enhancements, it doesn't include the aluminum ball shift ****. If you get a GT with the Premium package (and only then) you can also opt for the Premier Trim package (401A), which gets you the aluminum shift ****, different leather for the seats, chrome Mustang emblems in the door panels, and a darker finish on the aluminum dash panels.
If you decide to order the aluminum **** from the parts department, you will probably also want to get the boot that goes with it. The standard leather boot has a much larger opening than the one made for the aluminum ball shift ****.

I've driven 2010s with both, and I prefer the 401A aluminum ****. It fits better in my hand, and IMO gives a more "connected" feeling with the gearbox. The leather wrapped 400A **** has a little too much "insualtion" for me; you feel more engine vibration and the gearbox feels more mechanical with the metal ****.
My $0.02...and btw, YOU ONLY GET THE POLISHED ALUMINUM **** WITH THE RAPID SPEC 401A GT PREMIUM INTERIOR OPTION!!!!!!!!

Ok, well, thanks for the posts on this. I have seen the aluminum shift **** in 400A packaged Mustangs and just assumed it was available for both 400A and 401A is the reason I asked. That's a bummer, I kind of hate the 401A interior. Just seems cheesy. That's just my 2 cents as well. Not trying to hurt any feelings, just don't like the seats really, everything else is fine but I really want saddle. Something about the off color leather looks great. Also can't stand the red interior, too gimmiky for me. I might as well just order the **** and get my saddle interior.
I do think the cashmire stripe is alright though. I just think the 400A seats look like they fit the Mustang more.
Wouldn't mind seeing a 400A package with the 300A guage lighting, no MyColor. Or MyColor on just the mnemonics and tick marks.
I am glad that most prefer the aluminum **** though. I didn't mind the leather **** in the 2010, but still didn't like that it seemed so dainty and out of place. Like it belonged in a previous Mustang, say early 2000's. Wonder if I could just get a Moon Eyes shifter!? Joke...but seriously.
