Crunch/damage in mid pipe?
Hi,
While installing the Roush exhaust on my GT, I saw that my mid pipe looked damaged on the driver side. I remember reading somewhere that Ford intentionally crunches one side of the mid pipe, but I'm not sure if this is what was referred to or something else completely. I searched on all the mustang forums that I frequent and could not find it.
Should I be worried? Is it damage or intentional design? I have only had the car for less than a week.
Thank you

that is not damage but part of the design. I seen a few other posts about this. When I installed my roush axle backs I checked and my car as it also. I also checked a car or two at the dealer and they also had it.

Thanks, guys
For the sake of knowledge, does anyone know the reason for the design?

1) tooling/fixturing for forming.
2) tooling/fixturing for assembly
3) clearance for assembly
4) clearance found to be needed in testing to prevent contact with other parts of the car.

The reason is either 1 or 2 as those flats add no clearance for anything.
