cruise control q

I used cruise control last nite for the first time. My car has roughly 630 milles. Did I do any damage to it. I have taken it to redline giving people rides in it.

Dude, I would totally ditch that car ASAP. You might as well be driving a Ford Pinto. Your car could explode and any minute. I'll give you $5000 cash for that ticking timebomb -- for parts of course. It's too unsafe to drive.

Yeah, I'm just playing with ya. The manual recommends varying the RPM for the first 1000 miles (not staying at one RPM for too long) but I'm not sure what the definition of "too long is". I'm guessing that as long as you didn't put 600 of those miles on the car with it pegged at 6500 RPM with cruise control on, you'll be fine.

I'd be much more worried about 600 miles of rpm at 1500rpm than 6500rpm. But no I'm sure you're fine.

Wow! Guess I didn't see that part in my 11's manual? Running on cruise control can mess up engine? I'm even happier I bought mine pre-owned w/1921 miles.

It won't damage the engine, but it won't let it break-in as well, which means it won't run as well for the rest of its life. We're talking minute differences here, but it makes a difference to some.
