Create a Convertible Boss 302? or nay
Soooo in 17 days from now, my new car should be in my driveway - '13 Grabber GT Premium Vert.... It was either a Boss 302 or a loaded GT vert. I liked driving my GTO, but I LOVED driving my Beetle convertible -- for the convertible part, obviously.
Well to start off, I'll be lowering it, adding either 20" AR Torq Thrust M's or 19" Laguna Seca wheels. I also plan to install a Boss 302 rear diffuser, Boss intake, and other bits. No Boss specific badging. For now I was considering LeMans/GT500 stripes as well.
Since Ford won't make a Boss vert, would it be cool or lame if I were to add all the bits from the Boss, and stripes and such? Or should I go the other route which would be mods from a GT500, mods from a Boss, etc...
For a second I thought it would be cool if I went all out, 100% to make my OWN Boss vert.... at the same time, I know it's total poser to badge your car like something it isn't. Therefore I'm kinda against Boss stripes... LeMans/GT500, more widely used and therefore something I might consider
Thoughts?
This is my first Mustang. Always been a GM girl till now..

I wished at the time I could have afforded the Boss, but the funds just were not there. I did buy a race red, and installed the "C" decals and hood bulge in black. I'll improve on the suspension once the warranty is up.
In no way am I passing mine off as a Boss, but will improve on what I have as a tribute to the true Boss.

I say do it. Do the exact graphics to but - the word BOSS from the graphics. Maybe just change the first letter to H and have it HOSS or something.. But would be cool to see a Boss look alike in a vert.. My wife had a 2003 Mustang vert in yellow with a black top. I added the GT spring edition stripes to it but instead of the word GT in the stripe it said V6 then I added black deep dish wheels. The car looked awesome. So I think your idea is a great one.

The C Stripes are perfectly fine, and if you want to put "BOSS 302" on the car, do it. I get grief from Shelby owners simply because I put guardsman blue LeMans stripes on a white Mustang, and to add insult to injury, I had the temerity to use a KR-style hood. On a V6. OH, THE HUMANITY! Just wait 'til I add "SHELBY" letters to the hood and deck lid. I can already see them spitting and sputtering in disgust. ROFLMFAO!
Lastly, the BOSS will ALWAYS have more resale value than a GT convertible. IMHO, you made the wrong choice, but hey, that's just me.

I prefer to leave the Boss as a coupe because it's been bread as a race car, not a convertible.. I'm more inclined to stay true to form with tradition though so its my own personal preference. It's your dollar and ultimately you're the one who calls the shots. Do what makes you happiest.

Sounds like a great idea as long as you don't put the boss 302 on the side. I think the boss styling elements will translate really well to a convertible but my personal opinion is never badge a car as something its not. You could probably get a set of stripes identical to the 302 just without the "boss 302" on them.

Do what makes YOU happy. The great thing about Mustangs is that there's a style for everyone. Sure, there will be those that judge (although they shouldn't) but that's life!
Personally, I like the idea of a Boss 'vert. As has been said above though, I'd skip the BOSS lettering on the side stripes, but that's just me.
Do it, and post pics of the result.
FWIW, here's one of my favourite 2010s

Well I wasn't shopping for a Mustang. I was shopping for a sporty, manual rear/awd convertible.
370Z, TT-RS, Camaro SS, Mustang GT, GT500, G37, Corvette, M3, SLK, Lexus IS, Porsche Boxter, a lightly used Porsche 911.....
These were all on my list of cars I was wanting to look at. For a while we were thinkin' hard about a Boxter or TT-RS.
Camaro's visability, roofline, and the fact that it felt pretty much exactly like my GTO had it out of the running...
GT500 was the leader at first, but I couldn't justify to myself to pay 18k more for just extra HP.
G37 I actually liked, but the girlfriend doesn't like japanese cars much and thus I couldn't sell her on the G or the Z.
M3 was nice, but the price was just irritatingly high that I couldn't justify that kinda payment.
SLK I have always liked, but she felt it was too old-persony.
I liked the Porsche pair, I still do, but they are more common than Mustangs that I was actually turned off.
Corvette still seems like the plastic fantastic that it's been for years.. I have always had a thing for them, but she was against it.
Then there was the Mustang. It's gotten worlds better since '05.. I liked pretty much everything about it, and compared to the majority of the competition, felt like a value, plus the engines finally are something that lights my fire, so I liked it.
So we chose the Mustang GT. Once it's paid off, it'll get what's missing, that Supercharger whine. But I'm happy with the choice, very happy.

Danielle, if you're looking or a Boss level of performance, here's what I'd do:
-FRPP Coupe adjustable handling kit M-FR3-MGTAA
-FRPP Boss side exhaust
-GT500 mufflers
-Boss 302 intake manifold with tune
-Wheels/tires
-Boss 302 front/rear fascias
You can get most everything you want/need without spending a ton. You'd come out with a better performing car for less money than buying the OEM components.

I went that route with my 11 CS including the matte black Boss 302 C stripe. I took grief here for it but that's ok... I get plenty of thumbs up and even "NICE CAR!" yells from across the parking lot.
I added the Boss intake, LS wheels and front splitter to go with the cs/Boss Front fascia and rear diffuser. Brembo brakes and the side exhaust are next...

MY OPINION - decals OK, graphics saying BOSS is NOT
That 2010 GB Boss tribute was done long before the real Boss came back.

As far as car selection, I have to say any 11+ Mustang is the right choice. I'd like to add a supercharger to my V6, but I'm waiting for a twin-screw kit to become available because I don't like the appearance of the procharger kit.

Since your asking opinions, @Twin Turbo is right, do whatever makes you happy. The mustang has always been a an awesome canvas. However, I would not use the Boss name as it has a very specific role and would never be a convertible and would never be luxurious. Enthusiasts will NEVER accept that name on anything but a true Ford built Boss, but most of the people out there in the general public will never know the difference
