Convertible back seat for smaller kids?

I am new here. I have been searching online for the answer to this question for a while and can't find anything. Tried the online search here as well.

I am looking at a newer Mustang convertible and want to know how the rear seat is for younger kids? The weather has been horrible, when it has had a rare nice day, I have had other plans, so I have not test driven a Mustang yet.

I have a almost 4 year old boy and a 7 year old girl. I have the vision of the family going out in the car on nice days. I take my son to a lot of car shows/ cruise ins, he is a big fan of Mustangs and Cameros.

How bad is the back seat. Not worried about car seats ( I have 2 large car seats in my Mini Cooper now). The wife has a GMC Acadia, so this isn't the everyday family car.

Is the back seat going to have lots of wind buffeting? Will they be able to see anything other then the front seat backs? I know that once I get a test drive, they will be so excited that they will tell me it is great. But when the new wears off, will they hate it?

I have had convertibles before, I had a jeep and a Miata that I loved.

I found two cars that I am interested in, both black/ red leather GT manuals. Both out of state, one is a 2013 and the other a 2014. I have time, but would probably have a car now if it weren't for the snow, cold and rain.

Thanks
Ed

My almost 4 year old fits back there ok. I would imagine that she should be good back there until she is around 10. Then she might start complaining. My daughter needs to wear a hat while she is back there because her hair is all over the place. They definitely get the wind in your face convertible experience. I never asked her what she could see when we are driving but she does enjoy the convertible. The first thing she does when she gets in is tell me to put the top down.

My 7 year old and 9 year old ride back there in my 05 vert - which is the same back seat as the 14. They have been back there since the day they each were born. While neither needs the car seats anymore, my 7 year old sits in a booster seat still.

I couldn't tell you what someone could see from the back seat, but I had two adults riding with me during the daffodil parades recently. I'm 5' 11" and have sat in the back seat behind the driver's seat adjusted for me. I would not want to go on a long trip that way, but could be quite comfortable for an afternoon drive. I don't know what wind buffeting is like in the back seat, but with the windows all up it is trivial in the front seats.

Approach it with an open mind and have someone else drive while you sit in the back. You may find it is just fine.

No one is fitting behind me when I drive. My seat is all the way back (I am 6'2") and I can't stand when someone has their knees in the back of my seat and I keep feeling that while driving. It kind of makes mine a 3 passenger.

I am also 6'2". I drop the seat as low as it goes, and then lift the front of the lower cushion up as high as it goes. This allows me to have my legs bent more so I can have the seat closer to the dash. I actually find it more comfortable. All the same, the youngest goes behind me since he doesn't need much leg room.

I got so many stares and chuckles when people would see my convertible with the top down and 2 baby seats in the back.
