Agreed, either with better fasteners or a scatter-shield.

As far as I know the similarities end at "6-speed". At least it was my understanding that they are different transmissions.

Check again... I'm pretty sure they BOTH use the Getrag MT82 6-speed manual.

Why would Ford source 2 different 6 speed manuals for a new powertrain?

They have 3 different 6-speeds. 6R60 for the V6, MT82 for the GT, TR-6060 for the GT500.

The way I found out that the MT82 transmission was being made in China was by looking at the window stickers on a 2011 V6.

Isn't the 6R60 an automatic?

Perhaps my little V6 is too gutless to loosen the bolts... (sigh)

6k RPM at the transmission is 6K RPM regardless of motor.
The clutch and flywheel are different between the V6 and the 5.0. The V6 has the dual-mass flywheel, the 5.0 does not.

Its the bolts that hold the pressure plate to the flywheel, they are having trouble with them backing themselves out in certain circumstances and this is not a blanket (meaning everyone) issue, this is made worse by lots of high RPM usage.

Mine has already been replaced (2-3 weeks ago), I was the first one.
Ford Enginnering had to bring parts to my dealer to try, since no parts were available through normal channels.

I am running some new style bolts to see if they hold up better. My car is going back to Ford Corporate within the next two weeks for them to see how they held up.

Please PM me your vin and the name of the dealer the car is at.
That makes sense, thanks for the info.

I wonder if my dealer knows of this issue?
